Yurts to Blue Domes

Central Asia is remote, and that is exactly the appeal. This trip goes well beyond big-city sightseeing into mountain roads, village stays, yurt camps, local meals and places where tourist infrastructure can be limited. Travelers who enjoy comfort above all else may find parts of the route challenging, but travelers who like texture, patience and real daily life will get a lot out of it.

Accommodation is sometimes basic, especially in yurts, homestays and guesthouses. Some bathrooms are shared, showers may be limited, and in a few places facilities are much simpler than a standard hotel. The experience is less about luxury and more about being close to the landscapes and communities you came to see.

This is an overland journey with several long driving days, sometimes on rough roads. The vehicles are small enough to reach areas larger buses may not handle, which also means the ride can feel cozy when the group is full. Photo stops and stretch breaks help, but patience is important.

This journey visits Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, with a return to Uzbekistan after the Tajikistan section. Check the current entry and visa requirements for your nationality for every border crossing, including any permission needed to re-enter Uzbekistan.
Use the same passport throughout the journey and provide your booking agent with the requested passport details in advance. If a visa or letter of invitation is required, allow sufficient time to arrange it before departure. Confirm requirements with the relevant official authorities.

The trip includes 11 nights in hotels, 3 nights in tourist yurt camps and 2 nights in guesthouses or homestays. The rural stays are basic, but offer a closer connection to the families and landscapes along the route.
Yurts are shared and may be mixed gender. Facilities at the camps and homestays are communal, with limited washing facilities and sometimes no showers. Sleeping arrangements may include mattresses or couches rather than conventional beds. Discuss any concerns about sharing with your leader before the rural section.
