Yes, absolutely. U.S. citizens need a visa before they arrive in the country, but the most convenient visa to apply for is the e-Visa.
- E-Visa: Apply through the official Indian Government e-Visa Portal. It is applicable for tourists, valid for 365 days from the date of grant, allows multiple entries, and permits a stay of up to 180 days at a time. Apply at least 4 days prior to the visit.
- Passport Validity: Your passport should have a minimum of six months of validity from the date of entry into India and a minimum of two blank pages.

Yes, absolutely, and it is obligatory for all EurotourClub guests. Public hospitals can be crowded, but while private ones are excellent, especially in cities, payment is required upfront, which can be costly.
- Medical & Evacuation: Your policy must have high medical limits (minimum of $100,000 recommended) as well as emergency medical evacuation coverage.
- Trip Protection: It is highly recommended that one consider coverage for trips that are cancelled, interrupted, or experience delays.
- Theft/Baggage Loss: It is recommended that coverage be taken for lost or stolen baggage.
Tipping is not a traditional custom but is appreciated in tourism and service industry sectors because it is an added income source for low-paid employees.
- Restaurants: In restaurants, a tip of 10% is a lavish tip. In small restaurants, a small change will be sufficient.
- Tour Guides & Drivers: The daily amount for a private tour guide will be in the range of 250-500 INR, whereas the daily amount for a driver will be in the range of 150-300 INR.

- Mobile Data: 4G networks are available in most of the country, including rural areas. The most reliable way of accessing the internet on the go in South Africa is by using a local SIM card.

- Best Local Solution: Get a prepaid SIM card designed for tourists at the airport upon arrival. Operators such as Airtel, Jio, or Vi (Vodafone Idea) are good options. One needs to carry their passport and a passport-size photo to register. It may take a few hours to complete the procedure.
- Coverage: The coverage is usually very good in inhabited areas but is poor in mountain and rural regions.

- Temple & Sacred Site Visits: Remove your shoes before entering temples/sacred sites. Dress modestly; shoulders and knees should be covered for both sexes. Leather items, including belts, are not permitted inside temples/sacred sites. Adhere strictly to all regulations, including those on taking pictures.
- The Head and Feet: The head is sacred. Do not touch anyone's head, even a child's. The feet are also unclean. Do not point the sole of your feet at anyone or at a religious icon.
- Public Displays of Affection: It is best not to engage in kissing, hugging, and the like in public places. This will be taken as an offense.
- Photographing People: When photographing the local population, it is always important to request permission before doing so, even in the countryside.
India is a safe destination for travelers, but it also requires vigilance. Petty thefts and scams are common. Female travelers traveling alone should also exercise caution.
