Yes, American citizens require a visa to travel to Togo. The best way to get it is to apply for an e-visa online.
- E-Visa: Available through the government website of Togo itself. Requires an electronic passport photograph and a copy of your passport. Takes several business days to be processed.
- Visa on Arrival: Although it may be available at Lomé Tokoin Airport (LFW), it is not guaranteed, and queues can be long. It is advised to opt for the pre-approved e-visa.
- Passport Validity: The passport you use should be valid for a period of no less than six months after the intended entry date.

Yes, full travel insurance is a compulsory requirement for all EurotourClub clients and is non-negotiable for Togo.
- Medical & Evacuation Coverage: You will need coverage that includes high-limit medical insurance and medical evacuation benefits. There are limited health facilities beyond Lomé.
- Trip Protection: It must include trip cancellation and interruption insurance.
- Documentation: Keep a hard copy of your insurance cards and contact information.
Tipping is welcome, but is less organized than in the United States. It is a symbol of appreciation for excellent service.
- Restaurants: In better restaurants in Lomé, a 5-10% tip is a good idea when it’s not included. For local restaurants, rounding off is sufficient.
- Guides & Drivers: For a multi-day guide, a tip of 5,000-10,000 CFA (roughly $8-$16 USD) is generous. For a driver, a tip of 3,000-5,000 CFA per day is appropriate.

- You should never walk alone at night. This is particularly important when walking along a beach at night.

- Yellow Fever Vaccine: A Yellow Fever vaccination card is mandatory for travel. Bring your original "Yellow Card."
