Yes, absolutely, and it is mandatory for every EurotourClub guest. Comprehensive coverage is a necessity for a destination with adventure activities and private medical facilities.
- Medical & Evacuation: Your plan must have high medical benefits and emergency medical evacuation benefits. Private hospitals in Australia are excellent, but they require immediate payment.
- Activity Coverage: The policy should specifically include adventure activities such as safari drives, hiking, shark cage diving, and other activities included in their plan.
- Theft/Damage: This type of insurance provides protection against lost, stolen, or delayed luggage.
Tips are the norm and expected for superior service, as in the U.S., but at slightly lower percentages.
- Restaurants: If a service charge is not included, a tip of 10-15% is expected. When possible, tip your server in cash.
- Safari Guides and Trackers: For an excellent guide, 150 to 250 ZAR (about $8 to $14 USD) per day per client. For a tracker, 100 to 150 ZAR (about $5 to $8 USD). Gratuity money is often collected and put into a community box at lodges.
- Porters and Hotel Staff: 10-20 ZAR ($0.50-$1 USD) per bag or service.

- Urban Areas: The water quality in large urban centers is excellent, meeting high standards.
- Rural Areas: In certain rural areas or small towns, it is recommended to consume bottled water. Your guide will be able to advise on what is best.
- The General Rule: In any situation where you are uncertain about what to drink, bottled water is always available and reasonably priced.

- Safari Lodges: Internet access is a common feature at luxury safari lodges, though it may only be available in public areas and could be via satellite, making it very slow. Enjoy your digital detox holiday!

Modern, flushable, and Western-style toilets are ubiquitous—found in every airport, mall, hotel, restaurant, and major point of interest.
- Public Toilets: Clean toilet facilities are provided at fuel stations, places of interest, and shopping centers. However, some of them may charge a small fee (2-5 ZAR).
- Safari Adventures: The lodges are equipped with all the modern amenities one would need. On the full-day game drive, the guide stops at predetermined rest camps with adequate facilities.

- Safety: Lock doors when you leave your residence, plan your route, and do not stop for strangers. Park your car in well-lit areas. An International Driving Permit is highly advisable to carry along with your American driving license.
