Visitors from the U.S. staying in the country for tourism purposes up to 90 days do not need a visa to visit Tunisia.
- Passport Validity: Your passport needs to be valid throughout your stay in India. Though not mandatory, it's advisable to have at least one blank page in your passport.
- Entry Stamp: It is very important to ensure that you get the entry stamp while arriving in the country. Always have proof of onward travel, such as your returning flight, with you at all times, in case you need to produce it to the immigration officers
- Extended Stays: In cases of staying in Malaysia for over 90 days, you will be required to apply for a visa or an extension of stay at a police station within your area of stay before your 90-day period of stay has lapsed.

- Medical Coverage: Although Tunisia provides good medical care in large cities, it is best for tourists to seek care in private facilities. Your policy should include medical coverage and emergency evacuation.
- Trip Protection: It should include trip cancellation and interruption.
- Activity Coverage: Validate the coverage of activities, including desert safari activities, camel riding, or any water-related activities.
Tipping (pourboire) is the practice of giving tips in appreciation of service; however, it is not as formalized as in the United States.
- Restaurants: A tip of 5-10% is expected in cafes and restaurants if there is no service charge. leave money on the table.
- Guides & Drivers: For a personal guide, 50-100 TND (USD 15-30) a day is quite high. For a driver, 20-50 TND a day is about right.
- Small Services: For porters, housekeeping, or public toilets, 1-2 TND is enough.
Tap water is available in cities and resort towns such as Tunis, Hammamet, and Sousse, and is well purified and drinkable, though most people prefer bottled water for taste.
- Common Practice: Bottled water is very cheap. It is always available. Restaurants use bottled water.
- Caveat: In rural, smaller towns, or the deep south, it is advisable to drink from the bottle to prevent possible stomach upset.
- Environmental Note: Instead of using plastic, some hotels have introduced water dispensers. Refilling the container with water is encouraged instead of disposing of it after

- For U.S. Phones: Ask your provider for an international plan. For better rates, it’s very inexpensive to buy a local prepaid SIM card from Ooredoo, Orange, or Tunisie Telecom.
- Coverage: 4G is widespread around the coast and in urban areas. There will be no reception in the Sahara Desert regions.
The toilets vary from Western-style toilets to "squat toilets."
- In Hotels & Restaurants: You will find modern, sit-down toilets.
- Public & Rural Areas: Public restrooms charge a small fee (0.5-1 TND, about 20-40 cents USD) and are typically squat toilets, so bring toilet paper and hand sanitizer, as these are in short supply.
- Important Note: Because the older toilets used the water-pressure system, the used tissue needs to be disposed of in the waste bin that is supplied, and cannot be flushed away.
Tunisia is the most liberal Arab state, but modest clothing is a sign of respect and helps you fit in.
- In Cities & Medinas: For both men and women, it is advised to wear clothing that covers the knees and shoulders. Loose-fitting shirts and pants/skirts will help the ladies blend in.
- At Resorts & Beaches: Basic beach wear is just fine.
- Visiting Mosques: Your head, arms, and legs need to be covered.
- Some major Mosques have clothing for covering available.

- Never Go Alone: It is always better to travel with an experienced guide. The deserts are very large, and conditions change quickly.
- Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit the region is during the cooler season, from October to April. The summer season in the Sahara Desert is quite hazardous due to the scorching temperatures.
