This is an adventure-style route through a region where service standards, accommodation and logistics can feel different from what many US travelers are used to. You will be comfortable, but you should not expect luxury.

The trip includes long travel days by private vehicle and train. They can be tiring, but they are also part of the experience: wide steppe views, mountain roads, local train rhythms and the feeling of covering real distance across Central Asia.

Homestays and guest houses are basic and use shared facilities. The group may be split between different houses, rooms can be multi-share and bathrooms may be separate from the sleeping area.

You should be comfortable carrying your own luggage at train stations, border points and simple accommodations. A flexible attitude will help, especially on border-crossing days and in places where schedules or conditions can shift.

Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.

Accommodation on this trip includes 6 hotel nights, 1 overnight train and 3 nights in guesthouses or homestays. Hotels are practical and comfortable, while the homestays and guesthouses are simpler and more local in feel.

The overnight train is in kupe class, with 4 berths per compartment and a lockable door. Toilets and hot water for drinks are available at the end of each carriage. Compartments are not separated by gender, and you may share with travelers outside the EurotourClub group.

At the Saty Village homestay and Karakol guest houses, facilities are basic and shared. These stays are included because they put you closer to the landscapes and communities that make the route worthwhile.

An arrival transfer can be arranged in advance. If you pre-book a transfer, provide your flight details no later than 21 days before departure. Your driver will wait outside the international arrivals lounge with a EurotourClub sign.

If you make your own way from the airport, official and unofficial taxis are available outside. The Yandex app can also be useful locally. If taking a taxi, agree on the price before getting in. The official taxi rate to the hotel is about USD 10, and the ride usually takes 30-60 minutes depending on traffic.
