Consider how your children cope with long journeys: some days involve approximately 6 to 7 hours on the road, often on rough or bumpy surfaces. Bring suitable clothing for the season and be ready for both warm days and cooler conditions.

This is participatory camping. Families help pitch and pack away tents, prepare food and keep the camp tidy. A willingness to share these tasks is part of the experience.

The Loita Hills bush camp has basic facilities and cold showers, with hot bucket showers available in the morning. There is no Wi-Fi and upgrade options are very limited.

The overland truck has large sliding windows for viewing the scenery and wildlife, but no air conditioning. It can become hot and dusty, so a flexible approach to comfort is important.

Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.

Seven nights
Hotel (1 night), resort (2 nights), camping with facilities (2 nights), permanent tented camp (2 nights).

Families of two
A twin room is normally provided.

Families of three
A triple room is requested wherever possible, but availability can be limited. It may be a twin room with an extra bed or mattress rather than a larger purpose-built room. If a triple is unavailable, the family will need to decide who uses the separate single room.

Families of four or more
Two twin rooms are the usual arrangement, with a quadruple room requested where available. Nearby or interconnecting rooms may be requested but cannot be guaranteed, especially during busy school-holiday periods.

Arrival transfers
An airport arrival transfer can be arranged through your booking agent. Provide flight details at least 14 days before departure. For an earlier arrival, this service is available in conjunction with pre-trip accommodation arranged through your booking agent.

If a transfer is confirmed, meet the representative in the international arrivals hall and look for a sign with your name. Check the operator details in your final documents. Independent arrival
A taxi stand is located outside the airport building. Confirm the fare with the driver before leaving. Your final travel documents will confirm the joining arrangements for your departure.
