  • This morning, head to Giza and stand beside the pyramids that have held the desert for about 4,500 years. Your leader will help bring the stories, engineering and mystery into focus before you see the Great Sphinx and a panoramic view of the three pyramids. For lunch, try koshary, Egypt's beloved bowl of pasta, lentils, chickpeas and crispy onions. Later, explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, newly open in November 2025, then board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan.

  • Say goodbye to the felucca crew and travel by private van toward Luxor, often called the world's greatest open-air museum. Depending on timing and wind conditions, you may have the option to visit Kom Ombo or Edfu on the way. Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
The felucca night is one of the most memorable parts of this trip, but it is intentionally simple. You will share the open sleeping area with your group, sleep on a mattress under the stars, and use a shared bathroom facility. Many ancient sites have uneven, dusty and rocky paths, and places like the Valley of the Kings involve plenty of walking in open sun, so sturdy shoes and sun protection matter. Some hotels may not have elevators, and you may need to carry luggage up stairs. Egypt's temperatures can swing from intense heat to surprisingly cold nights depending on season, so layers are useful. The overnight sleeper trains are a practical way to cover long distances and use two-berth air-conditioned cabins with bedding and western-style toilets.
Visa information
Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.
Accommodation
Hotel (4 nights), Felucca (1 night), Overnight sleeper train (2 nights).
Accommodation listed in the day-by-day itinerary is a guide, and similar alternatives may be used if availability changes. In Egypt, three- and four-star properties may feel simpler than hotels with the same rating in the U.S. or Western Europe. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but small maintenance quirks can happen. Some hotels may only have hot water at peak times, and not all properties have fully reliable air conditioning. The felucca night is basic and shared, with simple bedding provided.
