Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
Luggage: Keep your bags small and light. You’ll be using public transport with limited storage space, carrying luggage across cobblestone streets, and lifting it up and down stairs.
Trip Style: This tour is designed for travelers who enjoy independence but also want the guidance of a local leader and the camaraderie of like-minded travelers. The itinerary blends included activities with free time, during which your leader will offer suggestions. Budget extra spending money for optional experiences.
Accommodation: Hotels on this trip are basic. European hotels often have two single beds that can be pushed together or apart rather than double beds. Rooms may be small, and in some cases, bathrooms are shared.
Weather Considerations: Summer temperatures can exceed 40°C, so wear layers, use sun protection, and stay hydrated. Many hotel rooms do not have air-conditioning. In winter, pack warm layers, as snow is possible in some regions. Choose your travel dates carefully based on your comfort with the season.
Transportation: The main mode of travel is by train. Train travel is fast, convenient, and city-center to city-center, avoiding traffic. Trains are comfortable, often equipped with air-conditioning, toilets, snack bars or vending machines, and power outlets.
Visa information
Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.
Accommodation
Hotel (5 nights), Guesthouse (2 nights)
The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline only and may change. On some occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our preferred accommodation. In these cases, we will use a similar standard of accommodation.
Throughout the trip, we request that our properties prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time. However, this isn't always possible which means we won't be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, we can store our luggage and explore our new destination or on some trips, have use of shared day rooms until all rooms are available.
