The trip blends relaxed days on the water with coastal villages, fresh seafood, ancient sites, and plenty of time to slow down into an easy sailing rhythm. One day you might be stretched out by the beach, and the next you could be sitting down to fish chorba in a tiny seaside restaurant where the recipes have been passed down for generations.

Tour program
  • Dobro došli — welcome to Dubrovnik, Croatia! If you arrive early, it’s worth spending some time on foot in this beautiful medieval walled city. You might walk the old stone streets, join a Game of Thrones-themed tour, or settle into a seaside restaurant or tucked-away alleyway spot to try a few local favorites.
Your sailing adventure begins this afternoon as you leave the city behind and head toward quieter waters. At 3 pm, you’ll meet your skipper and the rest of the group for a welcome meeting. Your skipper will collect the group kitty at this time, and then you’ll head together to a local supermarket to pick up supplies for the week’s onboard meals.
After that, step aboard and begin sailing toward Sipan, the largest of the Elaphiti Islands northwest of Dubrovnik. Known for its long history, island legends, and peaceful atmosphere, Sipan is one of the gems of the archipelago. Once you arrive, you may want to go out for dinner with your group at one of the island’s lovely restaurants before spending your first night at sea.
  • Accommodation
    Overnight boat (1 night)
  • Meals
There are no meals included on this day.
  • Special information
Your skipper will collect the trip kitty of EUR 100 during today’s pre-departure meeting. Your sailing time today will be approximately 2 hours.
As with any sailing adventure, the itinerary needs to stay flexible to account for weather, sea conditions, and the group’s preferences. The exact order and timing of stops, as well as the stops themselves, may change at short notice. If you’re happy to go with the flow, this kind of sea journey can be truly unforgettable.
  • This morning, after breakfast and maybe a quick swim in the sea, continue sailing toward Herceg Novi. You’ll pass through customs along the way, with time to stop for a swim in one of the many inviting bays before arriving in the late afternoon.
Founded in 1382, Herceg Novi is your historic gateway to the Bay of Kotor and a wonderful coastal city in its own right. Tonight, the boat stays at the port, giving you time to wander the city’s tree-lined squares at your own pace. You may want to head out with your group for dinner at a local restaurant and enjoy the evening views by the water.

Your sailing time today will be approximately 5 hours.
  • This morning, after breakfast — and maybe sunrise, if you’re up early — sail toward Budva. Along the way, you’ll stop for a swim, possibly at Uvala Dobrec if the weather is right. This quiet cove is known for its pebble beach and beautifully clear water.
Later, arrive in Budva, a coastal town with sandy beaches, a walled old city, historic monasteries, and a lively nightlife scene. How much time you spend out and about tonight will depend on the group’s mood, since Budva is known as a party town. If that’s not your scene, there are also plenty of calmer beach spots nearby, including Mogren, Kamenovo, and Jaz. Your skipper can recommend good local places for dinner, but the evening is yours to enjoy however you like.

    Overnight boat (1 night)
  • Meals
There are no meals included on this day.
  • Special information
Your sailing time today will be approximately 2 to 3 hours.
  • Enjoy breakfast on board this morning, then sail toward Rose, a historic fishing village with a slower, quieter feel. You’ll stop for a swim along the way before arriving and having the evening free to explore the village at your own pace. You might wander by the waterfront, settle in with a good book on the beach, or simply enjoy the calm after a few livelier stops.
This part of the coast is known for beautiful evening light, so keep an eye on the sky tonight. Whether you’re watching from the sea, the shore, or the deck, the sunset can be a real highlight.

Tonight, you’ll have the option to visit a local family in their home for a memorable dinner. If you choose to join, you’ll sit down to a three-course meal of local favorites, served with unlimited wine and homemade grappa. The food is homemade and grown on the family’s property, making this a warm, personal evening and a true taste of local hospitality.

  • This morning, sail toward Kotor, passing the tiny islet of Gospa od Škrpjela, also known as Our Lady of the Rocks. According to local legend, sailors placed a rock in the bay after every safe return from sea, and over hundreds of years, the small island slowly took shape. If you happen to have a rock with you, you can join the tradition too.
Later, dock in Kotor, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in southeastern Europe. Wandering its narrow stone streets can feel like stepping straight into another century. If you’re up for a challenge, you may want to hike the old fortress walls up to the Castle of San Giovanni, where wide views over the Old Town and the bay make the climb worth it. Depending on your fitness level and footing, the hike can take around 3 to 5 hours, so it’s best to start early if you plan to go.
Another option is a full-day tour to Lovćen Mountain, Njegoš Mausoleum, and Cetinje. This optional trip also includes a prosciutto tasting and is a fun way to see more of Montenegro beyond the coast.

  • This morning, sail to Zelenika in Montenegro for the customs checkpoint. If time allows, you may stop for a refreshing swim before continuing back toward Dubrovnik and docking at the marina.
For your final night, you might head into Dubrovnik with the group. Buses run regularly from the marina, and your trip leader can help coordinate the plan. Or, if you’d rather keep things easy, stay close by for dinner and drinks at the marina and say farewell to your group on your last evening together.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
  • Most of this trip takes place on a sailing boat, so you’ll need to feel comfortable moving around the vessel, including going up and down stairs. If you’re prone to seasickness, we recommend bringing motion sickness tablets from home.
  • Our yachts carry a small Zodiac, which may be used to take travelers ashore when the boat anchors in a bay. Most nights, though, we plan to stay in small marinas, so the Zodiac is not used often. Getting in and out of a Zodiac can feel a little awkward at first, but patience, balance, and a good sense of humor go a long way.
  • This is a real sailing adventure, which means space on board is shared. Cabins, bathrooms, showers, and common areas are compact and used by all passengers. Sleeping areas may feel smaller than a hotel room, but most of your time will be spent on deck, swimming, or exploring on land.
  • During the trip, your skipper will move the yacht using both sails and motor. Sometimes, depending on weather and sea conditions, the motor may need to be used for longer stretches or even the full route. Your skipper will keep you updated on any changes, and whenever conditions allow, they’ll be happy to raise the sails.
Visa information
Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.
Accommodation
Overnight boat — 7 nights
Accommodation on board this sailing yacht
This trip is fully accommodated on a 54-foot monohull sailing yacht. The following cabin types are available to book:
1 triple bunk bed cabin
2 twin bunk bed cabins
2 double/twin cabins, which can be arranged either as two twin beds or one double bed

Solo travelers can book a triple cabin or twin cabin and will be paired with another traveler of the same gender. If you’d prefer a cabin to yourself, a single supplement may be added to a twin cabin for an additional cost. Bathrooms on board are shared by everyone, including the skipper.
The yacht has 5 shared bathrooms. Please keep in mind that these are real sailing yachts, and this is a real sailing trip. Sleeping areas are designed to be compact so that shared spaces can be used as efficiently as possible. Living in close quarters may not be for everyone, but travelers who come ready for the adventure and excitement of an authentic sailing experience usually find that the overall journey more than makes up for the limited space.
Additional accommodation
Most sailing trips begin and/or end at a marina or port. In many destinations, transfers between the airport or hotel and the port or marina can be arranged. Please check the joining and finishing point details in the trip notes for specific information.
Electricity
There should be electricity on board during the trip, but voltage can vary widely, from 12V to 220V. When the yacht is in port or moored, electricity depends on the local supply available. Please note that the power supply may not always be strong enough to charge or run all electronic devices at all times. You may need a voltage adapter or a similar device, such as a portable car-style inverter. On some trips, it may be possible to charge devices ashore at restaurants or resorts, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Wi-Fi
Please note that the sailing boats do not have Wi-Fi. You’ll be going ashore and visiting towns regularly, so you’ll have chances to reconnect with the outside world during those stops.
