Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
  • Please pack light and keep your luggage as compact as possible. You’ll be using public transport at times, where storage space is limited, and you’ll need to comfortably carry your bags up stairs, across cobblestone streets, and into storage areas.
  • Summer in Croatia can get extremely hot, with temperatures sometimes exceeding 40°C. Be prepared with sun protection, light clothing, and plenty of water to stay comfortable while exploring.
  • Accommodation in Europe often consists of twin beds rather than traditional double beds, which can usually be pushed together if needed.
  • On Hvar Island, you’ll stay in locally run private apartments. These are simple summer rentals spread across town, all within about a 15-minute walk of the main square. They are not hotels, so there is no reception, daily cleaning, or room service, and amenities like TVs, washing machines, air-conditioning, or Wi-Fi may not always be available. Apartments vary in size and layout, and group members may share mixed-gender spaces. Rooms are generally twin-share and assigned by gender. Bathrooms are usually private, but in some cases may be shared within the apartment.
  • Keep in mind that Croatia’s coastline is hilly and mountainous, meaning stairs and slopes are a natural part of daily movement. Stone streets can also become very slippery when wet. This terrain can be physically demanding for some travellers.
Visa information
Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.
Accommodation
  • Hostel – 1 night
  • Hotel – 3 nights
  • Private apartments – 2 nights
Accommodation listed in the itinerary is a guideline and may occasionally change due to availability. If needed, a similar standard of accommodation will be provided.
Rooms are usually prepared for check-in before arrival, but this is not always possible. In such cases, luggage storage will be available so you can explore while waiting. On some trips, shared day-use rooms may also be provided.
Alternative accommodation may be used occasionally, but it will always be of a similar standard.
All accommodation is on a twin/multi-share basis. Solo travellers are paired with someone of the same gender. In some cases, facilities may be shared rather than ensuite, and occasionally you may share with travellers from other Intrepid trips.
Pre- and post-trip accommodation may require room changes from your main itinerary stay.
European hotels may not always include kettles, fridges, or air-conditioning.
On Hvar and Korčula, private apartments are used as the most central form of accommodation. These are simple local rentals without hotel services, varying in layout and amenities, and typically without air-conditioning or Wi-Fi.
