Tour program
  • Hej and welcome to Denmark! Your journey kicks off in Copenhagen. If you arrive ahead of time (which we definitely recommend), take the chance to explore the city a bit. Walk along the colorful waterfront in Nyhavn, grab a drink at one of the trendy industrial-style bars, or wander through Tivoli Gardens — home to one of the oldest roller coasters in the world. You might also want to check out Nørrebro, a lively neighborhood packed with great restaurants and local spots.
In the evening, meet your local leader and fellow travelers at a welcome meeting at 6 pm. Afterward, you can join an optional group dinner — a great way to get to know everyone while trying some classic Danish dishes.

It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting, as we’ll be collecting insurance and emergency contact details at that time. If you expect to be late, please inform your travel agent or hotel reception in advance. Check with reception or look for a notice in the lobby for details on where the meeting will take place.
  • When in Copenhagen, do as the locals do — hop on a bike! Cycling is hands down the best way to explore the city, giving you easy access to both major landmarks and hidden corners. The city’s bike-friendly layout makes getting around simple and enjoyable.
In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to continue exploring. You might stroll along the harbor, visit Amalienborg Palace — still the official residence of the Danish royal family — or stop by Frederik’s Church (also known as the Marble Church). Other great options include the Court House at Nytorv Square, City Hall, the National Museum, or Christiansborg Palace. During the summer months, you can even cool off with a swim in the city’s free harbor baths.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
  • Please try to keep your luggage as light and compact as possible. You’ll be using public transportation throughout the trip, where storage space is limited. Be prepared to lift your bags onto racks, carry them up and down stairs, and navigate cobblestone streets with them.
  • The regions you’ll visit can get quite cold at night at any time of year, especially at the beginning and end of the season. Make sure to pack for cooler conditions — think layers, a warm coat, hat, gloves, scarf, and anything else you’ll need to stay comfortable in changing weather.
  • Scandinavia can be a relatively expensive destination, whether it’s museum entry fees, optional activities, or dining out. Your trip leader will be able to guide you on how to make the most of your budget and get the best value during your time here.
  • Space is limited in Europe, and hotel rooms are no exception. Rooms are often on the smaller side, although their central locations usually make up for it. If you’re traveling as a pair, keep in mind that double beds are not always standard — many hotels offer two single beds that can be pushed together. In some cases, bathroom facilities may be shared with other guests.
  • This itinerary doesn’t allow for much time in Oslo or Copenhagen, so it’s highly recommended to extend your stay in both cities if you can. Speak with your booking agent in advance to arrange additional nights, subject to availability.
  • This trip is designed as an introduction to southern Scandinavia and does not include the Norwegian Fjords. If you’re looking to explore further, you may want to consider longer itineraries such as Copenhagen to Northern Norway (AMSSC), Scandinavia & Baltic Circuit (AMSOC), or Complete Scandinavia (AMSAC).
Visa information
Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.
Accommodation
Hotel (5 nights), Sea Cabins (1 night)
The accommodation listed in the daily itinerary is intended as a general guide and may be subject to change. In some cases, adjustments may be necessary due to limited availability at our preferred properties. When this happens, a similar standard of accommodation will always be arranged.
Throughout the trip, we request that accommodations have rooms ready upon arrival, especially when we reach a destination before standard check-in time. However, this cannot always be guaranteed. In such situations, you’ll be able to store your luggage and head out to explore the area, or in some cases, make use of shared day rooms until your room becomes available.
The sea cabins are located right on the waterfront in the scenic harbor area of Vrångö’s archipelago. Each cabin comes with its own private wooden deck, offering a peaceful place to relax by the water. Inside, you’ll find a double bed, a private bathroom with a shower, and a kitchenette equipped with a fridge, stove, and microwave. Cabins also include Wi-Fi, a TV, as well as bed linen and towels for your stay.
