Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
Pack light and keep your luggage small—public transport has limited storage space, and you’ll need to lift bags onto racks, carry them across cobblestone streets, and up and down stairs.
This trip is designed for travelers who enjoy independence but also want the guidance of a local leader and the company of like-minded adventurers. The itinerary blends included activities with free time, and your leader will have the best local tips. Be sure to budget for optional activities, and we recommend booking any that require pre-purchased tickets at least a month in advance.
Accommodation is twin-share. Solo travelers will share with someone of the same gender. European hotel rooms often have two single beds that can be pushed together or apart, and rooms may be small with some bathrooms shared rather than ensuite.
Summer can get very hot—sometimes over 100°F (40°C). Bring sun protection, wear layers, and stay hydrated. Many European hotels do not have air-conditioning. In winter, pack warm, waterproof layers for snow and rain. Consider the season carefully before booking.
Trains are the main mode of transport—fast, efficient, and city-center convenient. In some cities, local public transport like trams, buses, or metro is the best way to get around.
Comfortable shoes are a must—you’ll be on your feet most of the day.
Visa information
Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.
Accommodation
Your trip includes 5 nights in hotels and 2 nights in hostels. The type of accommodation listed in the daily itinerary is a guideline and may occasionally change. If our preferred hotels or hostels are fully booked, we’ll provide alternative accommodations of a similar standard.
Check-In
We always request that rooms be ready when we arrive, especially for early arrivals. However, this isn’t guaranteed. On some days, you may need to store your luggage and start exploring while your room is being prepared. On certain trips, shared day rooms may be available until check-in.
Occasional Alternative Accommodation
If our usual accommodations aren’t available, we will arrange a similar-standard alternative.
Pre- and Post-Trip Stays
If you’ve booked extra nights before or after the trip, you may need to switch rooms from your main trip accommodation.
Facilities
Some rooms may not have private en suite bathrooms or air-conditioning. European hotels typically do not provide kettles or fridges.
