This itinerary includes several long travel days, and some roads outside the main tourist areas can be uneven or slow-going. Early starts are part of the rhythm on those bigger travel days.

The Caucasus is mountainous, and even city neighborhoods can involve hills, stairs and uneven surfaces. You should feel comfortable carrying or rolling your own luggage up and down steps when needed.

Hotels are asked to prepare rooms before arrival whenever possible, especially when the group reaches a destination before normal check-in time. Early check-in cannot be guaranteed, so luggage may be stored while you explore, or shared day rooms may be used on some departures until rooms are ready.

Guesthouses are part of the charm of this itinerary and help support the local communities you visit. They are clean and comfortable, but hot water can occasionally be unpredictable, and some guesthouses have only a limited number of private bathrooms. The hotel is in Tbilisi's historic Vera district, within walking distance of the Tbilisi Funicular and Rustaveli Avenue, where you will find cafes, restaurants and wine bars. Rooms include private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, telephone, TV and hair dryer.

If you have an arrival transfer, flight details should be provided no later than 14 days before departure. At Tbilisi International Airport, a transfer representative will meet you in the arrivals hall holding a sign. You can also travel independently from the airport. Use a licensed metered taxi and avoid drivers who approach you directly; the ride usually takes about 30 minutes and costs around GEL50-70. Public bus #337 also runs from Tbilisi International Airport to Academy of Sciences station, about 700 meters from the hotel, with a total journey time of around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
