Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
  • If you'd like your return flights from Quito included, consider booking the Galapagos Discovery itinerary, which follows the same land-based route while including flights to and from mainland Ecuador.
  • This adventure includes a 17 km volcanic hike lasting approximately 6–7 hours. Sturdy hiking or trail shoes with good support are strongly recommended for the rocky terrain.
  • Travel between the Galapagos Islands is by public speedboat, and sea conditions can occasionally make the crossings bumpy. If you're prone to seasickness, speak with a healthcare professional about suitable medication before travelling.
  • Between June and August, the ocean is often rougher, which may result in longer boat journeys. Travellers sensitive to motion sickness may wish to consider visiting at another time of year.
  • Thanks to the islands' location on the equator, the sun is exceptionally strong. Pack high-SPF sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and, ideally, a rash guard for added protection during outdoor and snorkelling activities.
  • The itinerary includes snorkelling on several days, so confident swimming ability is essential. Alternative activities are not available during these excursions.
  • The Galapagos offers an ideal opportunity to disconnect, as internet access and Wi-Fi can be limited or unreliable across the islands.
  • Please note that hot water may not always be consistently available in some accommodation, so occasional cool showers are part of the authentic island experience.

U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
You'll spend 7 nights in comfortable hotels, offering a relaxed base for exploring the incredible wildlife and landscapes of the Galapagos Islands.

Accommodation Standards
The accommodation listed in the itinerary is intended as a guide. On rare occasions, if your preferred hotel is unavailable, a property of a similar standard will be arranged to ensure your comfort throughout the trip.

Hotel Check-in
Every effort is made to have rooms ready upon your arrival, even if you reach the hotel before the standard check-in time. If your room isn't immediately available, you can securely store your luggage and begin exploring your destination, or in some cases make use of shared day rooms until check-in is possible.

Single Rooms
Please note that a single supplement is not available on this tour due to limited hotel availability across the Galapagos Islands.

Important notes

  1. Single Supplement: Due to limited hotel availability across the Galapagos Islands, single-room accommodation is not available on this trip.
  2. Passport Information: Full passport details are required at the time of booking. The passport used for travel must exactly match the information provided, as it is needed to arrange entry permits for protected sites. Late updates may result in additional fees or itinerary changes.
  3. Transit Control Card: All visitors to the Galapagos Islands must obtain a Galapagos Transit Control Card before travelling. Please refer to the Entry Requirements section of the Essential Trip Information for full details.
  4. Baggage Inspection: Before your flight to the Galapagos, all luggage must be inspected by the Galapagos Inspection and Quarantine System (SICGAL) at Quito or Guayaquil airports. As this process can take some time, you should arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure.
  5. Mandatory Local Fees: Upon arrival in the Galapagos, you'll need to pay the Galapagos National Park entrance fee (USD 200) and the Isabela Port fee (USD 10). These fees are cash only and are not included in the tour price.
  6. Joining the Tour: Please refer to the Day 1 itinerary in your Essential Trip Information for detailed instructions on where and how to meet your group.
  7. Protecting the Galapagos: Strict environmental regulations are in place to preserve the islands' unique ecosystems. Visitors must follow all National Park rules, including maintaining a safe distance from wildlife and leaving natural objects such as shells and corals untouched. Your local leader will explain these guidelines at the start of the trip. Failure to follow the regulations may result in significant fines or removal from the tour without a refund.
  8. Optional Kicker Rock Excursion: The popular Kicker Rock excursion can be booked before departure and is recommended, as places are limited. Although local prices may sometimes be lower, availability cannot be guaranteed if you wait to book after arriving in the Galapagos.
