Tour program
  • Welcome to Chile. After arrival in Santiago, a transfer takes you to your hotel, where the trip officially begins with a 6 pm welcome meeting. If you get in early, take a slow walk around the neighborhood and let the city settle in a bit before the Patagonian portion begins. Tonight, sit down with your group at a local wine bar for a multi-course dinner inspired by ancestral cuisine, including Mapuche dishes, while your leader talks through the adventure ahead.

Please attend the welcome meeting, as insurance details and next-of-kin information are collected then. If you expect to arrive late, let your travel agent or the hotel reception know, and check at reception for meeting details.
  • Today is mostly about moving south. Leave the hotel early, fly from Santiago to Puerto Natales and continue by road toward your accommodation, with the Patagonian landscape starting to open around you. Keep an eye out for guanacos along the way and use the travel time to get to know the group. Your hotel is designed to sit quietly in the landscape, so once you arrive, the views do a lot of the talking. Later, join your leader for an orientation walk through Puerto Natales, then choose whether to head out for dinner with the group.

Travel time is approximately 7 to 8 hours. The orientation walk depends on flight timing; with an afternoon flight it may happen in Santiago, and with a morning flight it may happen in Puerto Natales.
  • Spend a full day inside Torres del Paine National Park, one of Chilean Patagonia's great showpiece landscapes. The exact route is shaped around weather, visibility and the group's interests, which is the right way to handle a place this changeable. You may see Grey Glacier and floating icebergs, visit Salto Grande waterfall, admire the Paine Massif or take short hikes through open country. Even when the wind changes the plan, the park keeps serving up big views.

Cruise through Ultima Esperanza fjord, passing waterfalls, small estancias and glacier-carved scenery on the way to Balmaceda Glacier. Continue to the end of the fjord, then take a short walk to a viewpoint overlooking Serrano Glacier. On the return, watch for imperial cormorants and sea lions, then stop at Estancia Perales for lunch with a broad Patagonian backdrop.

  • After breakfast, cross from Chile into Argentina and head toward El Calafate. Along the way, stop at Tierra de Ovejeros, a traditional Patagonian estancia, for a close look at sheep-farming life. A local host shares stories from the region, explains wool selection and shows how shepherding traditions still matter here. You will also see a sheepdog at work and a sheep-shearing demonstration before continuing toward El Calafate, the gateway to Argentina's glacier country.

Travel time is approximately 5 hours, including border formalities.
  • Drive out to Perito Moreno Glacier, a massive blue-white wall stretching across Los Glaciares National Park. Walk the viewing platforms above Lake Argentino, where you can hear the ice groan, split and sometimes thunder into the water below. Later, board a boat with an English-speaking guide for a closer look at the glacier face. Travelers who pre-book the mini trek may spend the day walking on the ice. Back in El Calafate, freshen up before joining the group for an intimate asado dinner in a local home.

Optional: Perito Moreno Mini Trek, booked directly with Hielo & Aventura
  • Special information
Travel time is approximately 3 hours. The Perito Moreno Mini Trek should be booked before departure, as spaces often sell out locally. It is a full-day activity with pick-up and drop-off from El Calafate, and you will be away from the leader and group during that experience. The maximum age for the mini trek is 65, with no exceptions. If you do not join the mini trek, you will explore the glacier platforms with your leader and may be able to book the glacier cruise. Depending on weather, your leader may also arrange time at the north-face beach viewpoint.
  • Fly from El Calafate to Ushuaia, the southern city many travelers know as the End of the World. After arrival, check into your Feature Stay outside town, with views across the Beagle Channel and the Martial Mountains. Join your leader for an orientation walk to get your bearings, then use the rest of the day your way. You might visit the Museo del Fin del Mundo, wander the waterfront or keep the evening easy with dinner or drinks alongside the group.

  • After breakfast, head out by boat through Tierra del Fuego National Park and along the dramatic Beagle Channel coastline. Transfer to a private boat and continue toward Martillo Island, one of the few places in South America where penguins gather in large numbers. As the boat approaches, the engine is turned off so the colony can be observed respectfully from a distance. Watch Magellanic penguins and rare Gentoo penguins move along the shore and dip into the cold water before returning to Ushuaia by land.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
Patagonia is beautiful because it is untamed, and the weather can change fast. Wind, rain and cold temperatures are part of the region's personality, so pack for real outdoor conditions even though this is a Premium-style itinerary.

Activities in Torres del Paine may be adjusted if weather or trail conditions make the original plan unsuitable. Travelers who stay flexible usually enjoy this trip most, because the local team can shape the day around what Patagonia is actually doing.

This is not a hard trekking trip, but it does include travel days, border formalities, boat rides, short walks, cold conditions and early starts. The comfort level is higher than a rugged expedition, but the destination still asks for patience and a good jacket.

Accommodation
Accommodation is in comfortable hotels, including a Feature Stay near Ushuaia with views of the Beagle Channel and the Martial Mountains. The listed hotels are the intended style and standard, though similar properties may be used if availability changes.

Rooms are requested in advance, but early check-in is not always possible, especially when the group arrives before normal hotel check-in time. In those cases, luggage can usually be stored while you explore or wait for rooms to be ready.
Joining point
Joining point: Hotel Bidasoa, Avenida Vitacura 4873, Vitacura, Santiago, Chile.

Hotel Bidasoa sits in Santiago's Vitacura district, with a polished, eco-conscious feel, spacious rooms, gardens, a rooftop pool and two on-site restaurants. It is around 15 minutes from downtown Santiago, depending on traffic.

A complimentary arrival transfer is included if you arrive on Day 1 or have booked pre-trip accommodation through EurotourClub. Flight details must be provided at least 14 days before travel. At Santiago Airport, meet the transfer representative at Gate 4 and confirm the booking details before leaving with anyone. Taxi and transfer scams can happen at the airport, so take a careful, unhurried approach.

Important notes

A complimentary airport arrival transfer is included for Day 1 arrivals, and also for travelers who book pre-tour accommodation through EurotourClub. Please provide flight details at least 14 days before departure so the transfer can be arranged properly.

A single supplement may be available for travelers who prefer a private room. It applies to all nights of the trip and depends on availability.

For Argentina, carrying US dollars is strongly recommended. ATMs are common, but withdrawal limits and exchange-rate swings can make cash access less convenient than expected.

The optional Perito Moreno Mini Trek can fit this itinerary, but space is limited and advance booking is recommended. Full passport details are required to hold a place, and the activity has a maximum age limit of 65.
