    If you arrive early, consider visiting the iconic Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of Thailand's most sacred pilgrimage sites. Climb the staircase to the hilltop temple and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over Chiang Mai and the surrounding countryside. The itinerary combines included experiences with ample free time, allowing you to personalise your adventure with optional activities along the way.
  2. Accommodation throughout the trip is simple, clean and comfortable, reflecting the authentic character and relaxed lifestyle of Laos, where simplicity is an important part of the travel experience.
  3. The itinerary includes several longer travel days using local transportation. Travelling through Thailand and Laos takes time, but the scenic landscapes and authentic local experiences make every journey part of the adventure.
  4. This tour forms part of a longer itinerary, so some members of your group may have already been travelling together before joining this section. If you have additional time, you may wish to continue your adventure on the Real Thailand & Laos or Epic South East Asia itineraries.
  5. When visiting temples, monasteries and other religious sites, respectful clothing is required. Please wear attire that covers your shoulders and knees, such as long trousers, skirts or dresses, together with closed-toe shoes or trainers, as sandals may not be permitted at certain locations.

U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa.   1. Important Visa Information for Laos : Travellers must obtain a Laos visa before departure through the Laos Embassy or Consulate in their home country. Please note that e-Visas and Visas on Arrival are not accepted at the Nam Ngeun border crossing used on this itinerary. For full entry requirements, please refer to the Passports, Visas and Entry Requirements section of the Essential Trip Information.
  2. A single supplement is available for travellers who prefer private accommodation and is subject to availability. Please contact your booking agent for pricing and further details. While a double bed will be requested whenever possible, some properties may only offer twin-bed room configurations.
  3. Please provide your full name exactly as it appears in your passport, including all middle names, at the time of booking to ensure your train tickets are issued correctly. Amendments made within 45 days of departure may incur additional fees and, in some cases, travellers will be responsible for the cost of reissuing tickets.
