  • Special information
Today's journey will take approximately 4.5 hours, including ferry, road and boat transfers through southern Thailand's spectacular landscapes.

Your accommodation tonight is a traditional floating raft house set directly on the waters of Cheow Lan Lake. The accommodation is simple yet full of character, with wooden walkways linking the floating cabins to the shoreline. Shared bathroom facilities are located on land. We recommend bringing mosquito repellent, and if you prefer, a mosquito net, along with a spirit of adventure to fully enjoy this unique experience.

Khao Sok National Park experiences two distinct seasons. The dry season typically runs from January to March, while the rainy season lasts from April to December. During the wetter months, hiking trails can become muddy and slippery, and harmless leeches are commonly found throughout the rainforest. In return, you'll experience the park at its most vibrant, with lush vegetation, flowing waterfalls and abundant wildlife. Sturdy waterproof footwear with good grip is strongly recommended.
  • Wake up surrounded by the ancient rainforest of Khao Sok National Park, where your floating raft house offers a front-row seat to one of the world's oldest evergreen forests. Early this morning, board a traditional longtail boat and glide across the mist-covered waters of Cheow Lan Lake, keeping an eye out for the park's incredible wildlife.
Before lunch, set off on a guided jungle walk through the rainforest.

Depending on the season, you'll either discover cascading waterfalls or hike to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the dramatic limestone landscape. Along the way, you may be fortunate enough to spot wild elephants, hornbills and dusky langur monkeys.
Later, continue your journey to Phuket. En route, pause at the Khao Lak Tsunami Memorial to learn about the devastating 2004 tsunami and honour those affected by the disaster.

Your journey also includes a visit to the Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Center, where you'll discover the inspiring work being done to protect endangered sea turtles. Learn how eggs are rescued from vulnerable beaches, how hatchlings are cared for and released, and how the centre collaborates with local communities, schools and conservation organisations to safeguard Thailand's marine ecosystems.
This evening, enjoy free time in Phuket. Perhaps watch the sun dip below the Andaman Sea, explore the island's lively dining scene or raise a glass with your fellow travellers as you celebrate an unforgettable adventure through southern Thailand.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
  1. This itinerary includes several long travel days using local transport, including a 13-hour overnight train journey to Surat Thani. While facilities are simple, travelling by overnight train is an authentic Thai experience, offering the chance to meet local people, interact with fellow travellers and maximise your sightseeing time. Please note that sleeping compartments may be shared with travellers of different genders, local passengers or guests from other tour groups.
  2. As a Basix adventure, this trip offers plenty of flexibility, with many optional activities and generous free time so you can explore at your own pace. Accommodation is simple yet comfortable, providing everything you need for an enjoyable journey.
  3. Thailand's tropical climate can be hot and humid throughout much of the year. We recommend packing lightweight clothing, applying sunscreen regularly, wearing a hat and staying well hydrated during your travels.
  4. As your itinerary includes only a short stay in Phuket, you may wish to extend your trip by a few days to fully enjoy the island's beaches, nightlife and wide range of optional experiences.
  5. This adventure forms part of a longer itinerary, so some members of your group may have been travelling together before joining this section of the trip. If you have additional time, consider extending your journey with the Real Thailand itinerary for an even more in-depth experience.
  6. When visiting temples, mosques and other religious sites, respectful dress is required. Please wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, such as long trousers, skirts or dresses, along with closed-toe shoes or trainers, as sandals may not be permitted at some locations.

Accommodation on this trip is on a twin share basis, unless otherwise stated in the Itinerary. There may be times when facilities are shared, rather than ensuite, which will also be mentioned in the Itinerary if applicable.
CHECK-IN TIME

Please note that the supplement does not apply to the overnight train on Day 2 or the floating raft house stay on Day 6, where accommodation is shared. While a double bed will be requested whenever possible, some properties may only offer twin-bed room configurations.
