- Welcome to Islamabad, Pakistan's capital. Built in the 1960s to replace Karachi as the national capital, the city still sits in an area with a much older human story. Your expedition begins with a 6 pm welcome meeting. If you arrive early, you might visit Golra Railway Station or Lok Virsa Museum, which focuses on Pakistan's cultural heritage. After the meeting, sit down for an included dinner with your leader and group.

You may have time to shop for local clothing, including a shalwar kameez, the loose trousers and long shirt worn across Pakistan. Visit Faisal Mosque, which was the world's largest mosque when completed in 1986 and is said to hold 10,000 worshippers. Continue to Taxila, where World Heritage-listed ruins show more than 500 years of cultural influence from Persia, Greece and Buddhism. Dinner tonight is in nearby Saidpur Village.

- Fly from Islamabad to Skardu this morning. Sitting at the gateway to the Karakoram Range, Skardu draws hikers, climbers and mountain lovers for good reason. Spend the day getting a feel for the area: walk through Skardu Bazaar for snacks or souvenirs, visit the 8th-century Manthal Buddha Rock, explore Kharpocho Fort and see the stark Katpana Desert. This is where the route starts to feel properly northern.

- Travel north to Passu, a small mountain town on the Karakoram Highway, also known as the China-Pakistan Friendship Highway. This is a long travel day, but the scenery does a lot of heavy lifting: huge valleys, mountain walls and stops with views of peaks around 7000 meters, including Rakaposhi. Passu will be your base for the next three nights while you explore the surrounding Hunza region.

- Drive to nearby Gulmit and spend time walking through this remote village. Visit a carpet-weaving center run by local women, then hike to the ruins of Ondra Fort. Built on a rocky outcrop above Gulmit, the fort once watched over key passes and trade routes, and the climb comes with wide views over the valley and surrounding peaks. Afterward, walk back through Kamaris Village and return to Passu for the night.

- Visit Hussaini Hanging Bridge, often described as one of the world's most dangerous bridges, though access onto the bridge is not permitted because of safety risks. Walk to Borith Lake, sitting at about 2600 meters, then continue toward Passu Glacier. You will also see Tupopdan, the 6106-meter peak known as Passu Cones or Passu Cathedral. Food gets its moment today too, with Passu's famous apricot cake and yak burgers. Tonight, listen to a local band play regional instruments, sing songs and share a few dance moves.

- Travel by 4WD to Shimshal, a remote town that had no road access until 2003. The road took 18 years to build and was constructed by the local community, who previously had to walk for days to reach other parts of Hunza. Shimshal's isolation shaped a tough, hardworking culture. It has produced notable Pakistani mountaineers, including Samina and Mirza Ali Baig. Samina became the first and only Pakistani woman to climb Everest and the Seven Summits, and she summited K2 in 2022.

Meet local families, hear their stories and head out on nearby walking tracks for views across the surrounding mountains. If you do not feel like hiking, stay in town and spend the day getting familiar with the village instead.

- Say goodbye to Shimshal and return to Passu by 4WD, then continue by private van to Karimabad. Stop at Attabad Lake, whose bright blue water hides a tragic origin: it formed in 2010 after a massive landslide killed 20 people, displaced thousands and dammed the Hunza River for five months. Later, explore Ganish Village, an ancient Silk Road settlement recognized by UNESCO for cultural conservation. In the evening, visit Karimabad market, the commercial center of the Hunza region.

At sunset, drive to Duiker, also known as Eagle's Nest, for views of the surrounding mountains, including Rakaposhi, Ultar, Bublimotin and Spantik on a clear day.

- Your first full day in Lahore focuses on the city's most famous historic places. Visit the Walled City, first constructed around the year 1000, and see Delhi Gate, World Heritage-listed Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque and Wazir Khan Mosque, known for intricate mosaics and frescoes. You will also visit Shahi Hammam and the tomb of Allama Iqbal, the poet and philosopher regarded as an inspiration for the Pakistan Movement. Accommodation includes 11 hotel nights and 3 guesthouse nights. The accommodation listed in the itinerary is a guide and may change if preferred properties are unavailable. If a change is needed, similar standard accommodation will be arranged where possible.

If you have arranged the transfer, a representative will meet you in the arrivals hall after customs, outside the entrance of the International Arrival Area, holding a signboard.
