  • Start the day with an early train journey to Agra, the former capital of the Mughal Empire and home to some of India’s most iconic landmarks. After arriving, take some time to settle in before setting out to explore this historic city.

Beyond the world-famous Taj Mahal, Agra is home to the impressive Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site overlooking the Yamuna River. Part fortress, part royal residence and part prison, this magnificent red sandstone complex is filled with grand halls, hidden courtyards and beautifully decorated mosques. Climb to the fort's upper terraces for your first unforgettable view of the Taj Mahal rising in the distance across the river.
