Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
No two African adventures are ever the same. Early starts are part of the experience, whether to maximise wildlife viewing opportunities or get ahead on long travel days. Travel times can vary depending on weather and road conditions, so flexibility and a spirit of adventure go a long way.
This is a participatory overland camping journey, offering an authentic way to experience Africa’s wild places. Travel in a purpose-built vehicle, camp under the stars, visit remote communities and help with camp life along the way. While some nights may be more rustic than others, the reward is unforgettable encounters with incredible landscapes and iconic wildlife.
Throughout the trip, a variety of optional activities may be available, allowing you to tailor your adventure to your interests. Availability and prices are subject to change locally.
You may also be travelling with adventurers continuing from a longer overland expedition, adding even more stories and experiences to share around the campfire.
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
Accommodation on this adventure includes one night in a hotel and 14 nights of camping with facilities, offering an authentic overland experience across Africa. Most nights are spent in spacious two-person dome tents, with camping mattresses provided for comfort.
Accommodation styles vary depending on the route and local conditions. While remote areas are best experienced under canvas, hotel stays are typically used in towns and cities where camping is less practical. Some campsites may also offer room upgrades, subject to availability, for travellers seeking extra comfort.
Camping facilities across Africa can be basic and differ from Western standards, ranging from simple showers to more rustic amenities. On certain occasions, wild camping may offer a true back-to-nature experience with no facilities at all. Embracing these conditions is all part of the adventure and allows for unforgettable nights under Africa’s star-filled skies.
