If you are going to be late, please let your travel agent or hotel reception know. Ask reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place.
  • Today, begin exploring the highlights of Muscat with a visit to the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. As the largest mosque in Oman, it can accommodate up to 20,000 worshippers and is home to one of the world’s largest handwoven carpets, crafted over four years by skilled Iranian artisans.

Continue to the historic heart of Muscat, where the impressive 16th-century Portuguese forts of Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani Fort overlook the harbour and guard the city’s coastline. Then head to the lively fishing port of Muttrah, filled with traditional wooden dhows and colourful fishing boats. Wander through the bustling souq, where you can browse local perfumes, spices, silver and handmade souvenirs.

Thin or see-through fabrics are not permitted. Men are also required to wear clothing that fully covers the arms and legs. Suitable outfits can be rented at the mosque entrance if necessary.
    • If your travel group has fewer than six participants, you’ll still visit the Sidab Women's Group to learn about their inspiring work supporting local women. However, in this case, lunch will be enjoyed at a nearby restaurant rather than at the organisation itself.

During your free time, you may wish to visit the impressive Nizwa Fort, renowned for its enormous circular tower designed to withstand the force of 24 cannons.
