  • Talofa and welcome to Samoa! If you’ve arranged an arrival transfer, you’ll be met at Faleolo Airport and taken to your hotel in Apia. This evening, join your local leader and fellow travellers for a welcome meeting at 6 pm, accompanied by drinks and light snacks. Afterwards, you may like to head out for dinner together and discover one of the local restaurants recommended by your leader.

  • Special information
    • It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting as we will be collecting insurance details and next of kin information at this time. If you are going to be late, please let your travel agent or hotel reception know. Ask reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place.
  • After breakfast, set out on a guided exploration of Apia, beginning with the historic Mulinu’u Peninsula. Discover important local landmarks before continuing to the lively flea market, where you can browse for handmade souvenirs and fresh tropical fruit. Visit the impressive Mulivai Cathedral, then stop for lunch at a local café, where you may also witness a demonstration of traditional ‘elei fabric printing – a Samoan art form using stencils to create intricate patterns on fabric.

    Later, visit the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, once home to the famous Scottish author who settled in Samoa. Continue uphill to the peaceful Baha'i House of Worship, surrounded by beautifully maintained prayer gardens. This evening is free for you to relax at your accommodation or head out and enjoy dinner in Apia.

  • This morning, board the ferry to Savai’i – the largest island in Samoa and a place deeply connected to the country’s legends, history and traditions. On arrival, explore the lively Savai’i Market and experience the vibrant atmosphere of everyday island life. Then journey along the scenic South Coast, stopping at the beautiful Afu Aau Waterfall and the dramatic Taga Blowholes.
    Along the way, admire peaceful villages, lush tropical scenery and colourful island gardens before arriving at your accommodation, where you’ll spend the next three nights. Settle in and perhaps enjoy a refreshing swim in the ocean after the journey.

    The order of activities in Savai'i may change based on tides so that you visit the Blowholes at their most spectacular.
    Due to properties on Savai'i not having large inventories of identical rooms, travellers will be accommodated in different room types here.
  • After breakfast, begin your day with a journey to Cape Falealupo – the easternmost point of Samoa and a place rich in local legend and cultural significance. Spend the morning exploring fascinating historical and spiritual sites, including Giant Moso’s Footprint, the sacred Ancient Star Mound and Fafao o SaoAli'i, known as the Passage of the Afterlife.

    Later, return to your accommodation for some well-earned relaxation. You may choose to spend the afternoon unwinding on the beach before heading out for dinner at your resort or a nearby local restaurant this evening.

  • Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace on beautiful Savai’i. Relax by the beach, take advantage of the resort facilities or choose from a range of optional activities. You might visit a local chocolate maker, indulge in a traditional Samoan fofo massage or join a guided village walk to learn more about local life and customs. Your leader will be happy to help with recommendations and organise activities for you.
    This evening, perhaps unwind by the beach with dinner and drinks as you watch the sunset over the ocean.

  • After breakfast, journey along the scenic north coast of Savai’i, enjoying a picnic lunch along the way. Pass through some of the island’s most picturesque villages before visiting the Sale’aula Lava Fields, where you’ll see the dramatic remains of the 1905 Mt Matavanu eruption, including the Virgin’s Grave and the nearby lava-covered church.
    Later, board the afternoon ferry back to Upolu and continue to your final destination at Lalomanu – often considered one of Samoa’s most beautiful beaches. On the way, stop at the Giant Clam Sanctuary for a chance to swim and snorkel among colourful coral, starfish and tropical fish.
    Arrive at your beachside fale accommodation in time to relax with a swim, snorkel or peaceful walk along the white-sand beach before dinner this evening.

    After lunch, spend some free time unwinding on the beautiful shores of Vavau Beach before returning to Lalomanu later in the day. Tonight, enjoy dinner followed by a lively cultural performance featuring the energetic Fa’ataupati slap dance as the evening comes alive.

Is this trip right for you?
Please note that this trip includes several water-based activities. To fully enjoy experiences such as swimming and snorkelling, it’s recommended that travellers are confident swimmers. If you are less comfortable in the water, we suggest bringing your own life jacket so you can participate more safely and comfortably.

Accommodation throughout the trip is in simple, locally owned properties rather than luxury beach resorts, offering a more authentic Samoan experience. Rooms are comfortable, but hot water may not always be consistently available, so occasional cold showers should be expected. WiFi access can also be limited in some areas, and purchasing a local SIM card is recommended for more reliable internet connection during your travels.
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa.
