  • Bula and welcome to Fiji! Your adventure starts on the island of Viti Levu, where you’ll be transferred from Nadi International Airport to your hotel. Meet your local leader and fellow travellers at a welcome meeting at 6 pm tonight. If you arrive early, explore the colourful Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple or browse the local produce markets filled with fresh tropical fruits and authentic island flavours.

    You will spend two nights in multishare community hall accommodation with shared facilities in local villages. Foam mattresses, pillows, sheets, blankets and towels are provided, but some travellers may prefer to bring their own sleep sheet or light sleeping bag. While basic, this is an essential experience of staying in Fijian villages.
  • Lace up your hiking boots for a scenic trek across Fiji’s rolling grasslands to Nubutautau village. Follow the Sigatoka River, stopping for lunch and a refreshing swim along the way. Arrive in the heart of Fiji’s highlands, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by green hills, local farms and warm village hospitality while learning more about traditional Fijian life.

    Your hiking distance today will be approximately 11 km (7 mi).
    For today's hike between the villages, it is essential you bring comfortable hiking boots, as the track can be muddy and slippery and there are a number of creek crossings. Your luggage will be transferred for you to the next village, so all you need to bring on the hike is your day pack.

    Tonight's accommodation is at a local community hall, similar to yesterday, with foam mattresses, pillows, sheets, blankets and towels provided.
  • This morning, take a cultural tour of the village and learn the history of the region in the 19th century, hearing the story of the missionary Reverend Thomas Baker. Continue by 4WD along the ridge separating two of Fiji’s major rivers – the Sigatoka and the Ba – back down to Nadi for lunch in a local cafe. With no further activities planned after lunch, your trip comes to an end. If you would like to spend more time in Nadi, just speak to your booking agent ahead of time to organise additional accommodation.

  1. This active adventure includes several hiking days, though you’ll only carry a day pack while your main luggage is transferred between villages. Two nights are spent in multishare village accommodation for a more authentic local experience.
  2. A moderate level of fitness is recommended to fully enjoy the hikes and outdoor activities. Travellers must also be confident swimmers to participate in the rafting experience.
  3. This itinerary explores Fiji beyond the typical tourist beaches, focusing on remote villages, hiking trails and cultural experiences. For additional beach time, consider extending your stay in the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands.
  4. Visiting traditional Fijian villages is a special part of this journey. Travellers are asked to respect local customs and etiquette, with guidance provided by local leaders throughout the trip.

COMMUNITY ACCOMMODATION
Experience authentic Fijian hospitality during stays in local villages, where accommodation is shared in community halls or traditional bures. Guests sleep on mattresses placed on woven mats, with shared sleeping areas for the group. Village facilities are simple but comfortable, including flush toilets and cold-water showers, while some villages may also offer basic guest lodges with beds and furniture.

Important notes

  1. A complimentary airport arrival transfer is included if you arrive on Day 1 or book pre-tour accommodation through us. Flight details must be provided at least 14 days before departure to arrange the transfer.
  2. The trip ends on Day 8 at approximately 2 pm at Coffee Hub Cafe in Nadi. We recommend booking departure flights from 4 pm onwards.
  3. A single supplement is available for travellers wanting private accommodation, excluding the two village stay nights where accommodation is shared.
  4. During Days 6 and 7, you’ll stay in traditional Fijian village community halls with shared facilities for an authentic cultural experience.
