Selamat datang! Welcome to Jakarta, the vibrant capital of Indonesia. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting this evening, where you’ll meet your group leader and fellow travellers. If you arrive early, take the chance to explore some of Jakarta’s fascinating museums or discover the city’s lively atmosphere at your own pace. Tonight, perhaps join your new travel companions for a delicious local meal and get your first taste of Indonesian cuisine.

• It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting as we will be collecting insurance details and next of kin information at this time. If you are going to be late, please let your travel agent or hotel reception know. Ask reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place.

Today, begin your journey into the heart of Kalimantan with a flight to the Indonesian side of Borneo. After arriving, visit the Balanga Museum to learn about the region’s rich indigenous culture and history before enjoying a local lunch. Later, travel to the traditional village of Tumbang Malahoi, where you’ll stay in an authentic longhouse surrounded by local community life. Receive a warm welcome during a traditional blessing ceremony, then spend the evening enjoying local food, music and dancing with village families.

• Your flight to Kalimantan will take approximately 2 hours, followed by around 5 hours of travel by road.
• Tonight, you’ll stay with a local family in a traditional longhouse for an authentic cultural experience.
• Accommodation is simple but comfortable, with mattresses, sheets and pillows provided in a shared communal sleeping area.
• Bathroom facilities are basic and include cold-water bucket showers and an outdoor squat toilet.
• Dinner will be served in the longhouse and enjoyed together in a traditional local style while sitting on the floor.

After breakfast, explore the village and learn about daily life in this remote community, where many locals work as carpenters, fishermen and gold miners. Later, head into the nearby jungle with local guides and enjoy lunch surrounded by nature. After saying farewell to your hosts, return to Palangka Raya for a relaxing afternoon with your travel group.

Instead of staying in the city, you'll be staying at the outskirt of Palangka Raya in a local resort, surrounded by amazing greenery and wonderful gardens. The resort also has a large outdoor swimming pool so it's a perfect opportunity for some R&R after your longhouse stay and will cut short the travel time today and tomorrow.

After breakfast, set out on a scenic canoe journey along the Sei Gohong River to Kaja Island, where you’ll witness the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation’s important pre-release program. Watch orangutans prepare for life back in the wild while spotting other native wildlife and tropical birds around the island. Later, continue to the port city of Sampit, known for its fresh seafood and local flavours.

Leave Sampit early this morning and travel to Kumai Port, where your Kalimantan river adventure begins aboard a traditional klotok boat. Cruise through the waterways of Tanjung Puting National Park while searching for proboscis monkeys and other native wildlife hidden among the jungle trees. After arriving at your eco-lodge deep in the rainforest, enjoy lunch before visiting the Tanjung Harapan feeding station, where you may spot impressive alpha male orangutans. Tonight, settle into your jungle accommodation and enjoy dinner surrounded by the sounds of nature.

• Your travel time today is approximately 5 hours. The boat ride to our accommodation in Tanjung Puting NP takes around 90 mins.

Start the day with an early morning river cruise aboard your klotok as you journey deeper into the rainforest in search of wildlife. Visit the world-famous Camp Leakey, a renowned orangutan research centre, where you’ll learn more about conservation efforts and observe orangutans up close at the feeding station. Along the way, keep watch for gibbons, wild pigs and proboscis monkeys hiding among the jungle trees before returning to your eco-lodge for dinner in the heart of the rainforest.

• Please note that at the feeding centre, as with other places where you’ll encounter orangutans, visitors are not allowed to bring in food or water, and no contact with the animals is permitted to prevent the possible spread of diseases.

After breakfast, cruise upriver to the Pondok Tanggui feeding station to watch orangutans gather for their morning feeding. Along the way, keep an eye out for giant squirrels, butterflies and other rainforest wildlife. After exploring the area, enjoy lunch aboard your klotok before continuing to the Tanjung Harapan feeding station and visiting the nearby riverside village. Later, return to your eco-lodge for a relaxing evening in the jungle.

This morning, say goodbye to Tanjung Puting National Park, and board your klotok once more to the port city of Kumai. Stop for lunch in the city, a good chance to reflect on your special time in the national park, then drive on to airport and take a flight back to Jakarta. Upon arrival in Jakarta, check in to hotel and free time for you to explore Jakarta City by night, or have a group dinner together with your travel pals on this farewell night.
