Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 4 pm, where you’ll meet your local leader and fellow travellers before diving straight into Korea’s famous culinary scene.

Later, hop on the subway and head out for one of South Korea’s most beloved combinations – crispy Korean fried chicken paired with cold beer, known locally as “chimaek.” Then continue to the legendary Gwangjang Market, made famous by Netflix’s Street Food, where colourful stalls, sizzling grills and irresistible aromas create the ultimate street food experience.

Follow your leader through the lively market to sample some of the city’s best local bites, and if you’re still hungry, continue the evening in trendy Ikseondong, where charming alleyways are filled with cafés, dessert spots and late-night food stalls.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
  1. South Korean cuisine is heavily centred around meat and seafood, with many traditional dishes featuring animal-based ingredients. Vegetarians and vegans are encouraged to review the itinerary carefully to ensure the included food experiences suit their dietary preferences.
  2. South Korea is best explored on foot, and this trip involves a considerable amount of walking each day. Comfortable footwear is essential, as you’ll spend long periods exploring cities, markets and cultural sites.
  3. Please pack light and smart for this journey. Travellers will need to carry their luggage through train stations and between hotels, sometimes involving stairs and longer walks. While elevators are usually available, compact luggage will make travelling much easier and more comfortable.
  4. One night of the trip includes a stay in a traditional hanok in Jeonju, where guests sleep on Korean-style floor bedding. While the futon-style mattresses may feel firmer than Western beds, the heated floors provide warmth and comfort. Additional mattresses may be available upon request.
  5. During the monastery experience, you’ll take part in traditional monastic customs and cuisine. To respect local traditions, temple clothing such as pants and a tunic will be provided, and socks must be worn while inside the temple grounds.
  6. Travellers visiting in autumn may have the opportunity to experience some of South Korea’s most famous food festivals, including the Jeonju Bibimbap Festival in October and the Seoul Kimchi Festival in November. Check departure dates carefully if you’d like to include one of these unique cultural celebrations in your trip.
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
Hotel (6 nights), Hanok Stay (1 night)
Hotel Rooms
Many hotels in South Korea have a limited number of twin rooms available. Couples who prefer double bedding should request this at the time of booking. Please note that double beds in South Korea are often smaller than standard Western sizes and are usually closer to a queen-size bed. In some twin rooms, beds may be pushed together to create a larger sleeping space, although this cannot always be guaranteed.

Air-Conditioning & Heating
Air-conditioning in South Korea is generally only available during the warmer months of the year. Traditional accommodation, such as hanoks, typically uses heated flooring systems to keep rooms warm and comfortable during cooler seasons.
Traditional Hanok Stay
One night of the trip includes a stay in a traditional Korean hanok. Guests will sleep on Korean-style floor bedding with mattresses placed directly on the floor. If the bedding feels too firm, additional mattresses may be available upon request, or the bedding can be layered for extra comfort.
