  • Tikilluarit! Welcome to Greenland. Your adventure begins in Nuuk, the country’s capital, with a welcome meeting at 6 pm.
    If you arrive early, take time to explore the charming Old Nuuk district, where you can see the historic Hans Egede Church and the statue of Hans Egede — the missionary who founded the settlement. If you’re interested in history, consider visiting the National Museum to view the famous Greenlandic mummies, discovered in 1972 by two brothers while hunting ptarmigan.
    After the meeting, you may choose to join your group for an optional welcome dinner and get to know your fellow travelers.

    It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting as we will be collecting insurance and emergency contact details at this time.   • Start your day with a guided walking tour of Nuuk led by your local leader. After getting familiar with the city and its key landmarks, you’ll meet a local storyteller who will introduce you to Greenland’s rich mythology.
    Listen to fascinating tales about legendary figures such as the Mother of the Sea, the Mountain Walker, and the Sun and Moon, along with other mythical beings. You’ll also hear about the storyteller’s personal journey and how their passion for these stories began.
    The afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace. You might choose to hike in the surrounding backcountry or take a boat tour through Nuuk’s scenic fjord. With the midnight sun lighting up the sky, an evening on the water is an especially memorable experience.

  • This morning, take a flight to Ilulissat — a name that translates to “icebergs” — and home to the UNESCO-listed Icefjord.
    Upon arrival, join your leader for a walking tour of the town. Learn about Ilulissat’s history, visit the harbor to gain insight into the local fishing industry, and pass by landmarks such as the wooden church and the local history museum. Along the way, explore small shops and stop by an artisan workshop to discover traditional bone carving — a craft that reflects generations of Inuit culture and beliefs.
    Later, enjoy a traditional kaffemik experience. Visit a local home and gain a deeper understanding of everyday life in Greenland. More than just coffee and cake, kaffemik is a meaningful social tradition that celebrates community, connection, and the simple joy of being together.

  • Today, discover one of Ilulissat’s most significant cultural and natural sites with a visit to Sermermiut — an ancient settlement overlooking the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord.
    Follow a marked trail through the Arctic landscape as you learn how past communities lived here, relying on the fjord for hunting and everyday survival.
    Continue to the Icefjord Centre, where engaging exhibits tell the story of Sermeq Kujalleq — one of the fastest-moving glaciers in the world and the source of the icebergs that drift through Disko Bay.
    From the outdoor boardwalk, take in sweeping views of the fjord and fully appreciate the scale and beauty of this extraordinary environment before returning to town in the afternoon.

  • Today, transfer to the port and board a ferry to Qeqertarsuaq on Disko Island. Both the town and the island share the same name, which means “the big island” in Greenlandic.
    As you travel, pass by towering icebergs — this may be one of the most scenic ferry journeys you’ll ever experience.
    Upon arrival, join your leader for a guided walking tour to learn about the island’s history and what life is like above the Arctic Circle. Founded in 1773 as a whaling station, Qeqertarsuaq is now home to around 850 residents.
    The rest of the afternoon and evening is free. Feel free to explore at your own pace, and ask your leader for recommendations on the best local dining spots.

  • Today, set out on a 10 km guided hike through some of Qeqertarsuaq’s most scenic and culturally significant landscapes, with Kuannit and the Qorlortorsuaq waterfall as your main highlights.
    Starting in the town center, pass by the striking black volcanic sand beach and the island’s well-known football field. From there, continue into the wilderness toward Kuannit — a breathtaking coastal area named after the Angelica plant.
    This peaceful and atmospheric location offers dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and a glimpse into Greenland’s unique geological history.
    Continue to Qorlortorsuaq, a small yet powerful waterfall surrounded by rugged nature. With a bit of luck, you may even spot seals feeding in the nearby waters.
    Although Kuannit is one of the island’s most famous landmarks, its remote setting and limited crowds create a truly intimate and immersive Arctic experience.

    Ilulissat lies at the mouth of the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier — one of the main sources of icebergs in the North Atlantic — making this an ideal location to witness these incredible formations up close.
    As you cruise along the coast, keep an eye out for seals and whales while taking in the dramatic Arctic scenery.
    During your visit, explore the town and see Greenland’s oldest wooden house, dating back to 1734. Enjoy a relaxed lunch as you learn more about the region’s history and cultural traditions.

Is this trip right for you?
  • A moderate level of fitness is recommended, as the itinerary includes a 10 km hike on Disko Island. Hiking poles are strongly advised, and sturdy hiking boots are essential.
  • Flights to Greenland from Denmark and Iceland, as well as additional accommodation in Nuuk or Ilulissat, are in high demand during the summer months and availability is limited. We recommend checking availability in advance and booking early to secure your preferred arrangements.
