This morning, travel to Georgia’s former capital, Mtskheta. Upon arrival, visit the medieval Jvari Monastery and the iconic Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.
Continue to the Tserovani Refugee Settlement, a community built to house more than 8,000 people displaced during the 2008 Russo-Georgian War. Then visit the Ikorta enamel jewelry workshop — a social enterprise that supports local women and youth. Here, you’ll meet the artisans, hear their stories, and enjoy a light lunch.
Later, drive to the historic city of Kutaisi. On arrival, take a walking tour to see landmarks such as City Hall, the Opera House, Mon Plaisir Arch, Golden Marquee Palace, and the lively Mtsvane Bazari Market.
In the evening, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace. You may wish to visit Gelati Cathedral, explore the ruins of Bagrati Cathedral, or dine at a local restaurant — your leader will be happy to recommend the best spots.
