Tour program
  • Jambo! Welcome to Kenya.

Your adventure kicks off in Nairobi with a welcome meeting at 6 pm. If you arrive earlier in the day, take the opportunity to explore some of the city’s highlights — visit the National Museum of Kenya, step into colonial history at the Karen Blixen Museum, or experience Kenya’s diverse cultures at the Bomas of Kenya, where traditional village life is beautifully showcased.
In the evening, ask your group leader for their favorite local dining spots and head out to enjoy your first meal in Kenya while getting to know your fellow travellers.
  • Accommodation
    Hotel (1 night)
  • Meals
There are no meals included on this day.
  • Optional activities
    • Nairobi - City Experience Urban Adventure - USD45
  • Special information
It’s important to attend the welcome meeting at the beginning of your trip — during this time, your leader will collect your travel insurance and emergency contact details. If you think you might arrive late, please let your travel agent or the hotel reception know in advance. You can also check with reception or look for a note posted in the lobby for details about the meeting’s time and location.
  • Today, hop aboard your overland vehicle and journey toward Amboseli National Park. Spanning roughly 392 square kilometres, this iconic park is famed for having the largest population of African elephants in Kenya — including impressive ‘big tuskers’ with enormous ivory. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a rare ‘super tusker’ — a powerful bull whose tusks can weigh over 45 kg each and are so long they nearly touch the ground.
On clear days, the scenery is just as unforgettable, with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the background. After arriving, set out on your first game drive, exploring the park in your overland vehicle as you search for the incredible wildlife that calls this landscape home.

  • Rise early this morning and set off toward the breathtaking Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival at the crater, swap your overland vehicle for open-roof 4WDs and take in the incredible views from the rim before descending to the crater floor. Here, wildlife roams freely across lakes, rivers, woodlands and open plains — and with animals less wary of vehicles, you’ll have fantastic opportunities to observe them up close. Keep watch for wildebeest, lions, zebras, cheetahs, buffalo, gazelles and the endangered black rhino.
Later, continue your journey to the legendary Serengeti National Park, where vast, ever-changing landscapes stretch endlessly to the horizon. From lush green plains after the rains to golden, sun-scorched savannah in the dry season, the Serengeti is alive with thousands of animals moving in great herds. Its name comes from the Maasai word siringet — “the land that goes on forever.”
Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch along the way before arriving at your campsite in the heart of the park. As night falls, drift off to sleep to the distant calls of nocturnal wildlife — a truly unforgettable African experience.

Important Notes for Your Safari Experience
While exploring the Ngorongoro Crater region, you may come across Maasai villages offering cultural visits. We recommend avoiding these experiences, as they can sometimes present a staged version of local life and may have a negative impact on authentic Maasai culture.
During the winter months (June to August), temperatures can drop significantly at night, so be sure to pack warm layers for your comfort.
Your campsite in Serengeti National Park offers a truly immersive wilderness experience, with no fences separating you from the surrounding wildlife. It’s not uncommon for animals such as buffalo or hyenas to pass near the camp after sunset. Upon arrival, your group leader will provide a thorough safety briefing to ensure everyone feels comfortable and secure.
Please note that tonight’s camp is basic, with limited running water and no wi-fi or upgrade options — but what it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in raw, unforgettable adventure.
  • Start your day bright and early with a sunrise game drive through Serengeti National Park. Head out at dawn, when wildlife is at its most active, then return to camp for a well-earned brunch around 11 am.
For a truly unforgettable experience, you can opt for a hot air balloon safari over the plains. If pre-booked, you’ll be picked up before sunrise and taken to the launch site. After a safety briefing, gently float into the morning sky — sometimes drifting just above the treetops for incredible close-up views, then rising higher for sweeping panoramas of the Serengeti and its roaming herds. After landing, enjoy a delicious bush breakfast before returning to camp.
Spend the heat of the day relaxing, just as the animals do, before heading out again at dusk for another game drive. As the golden light settles over the savannah, watch the landscape come alive once more before returning to camp in time for dinner.

Important Information About Your Journey
No two journeys in Africa are ever the same. Expect a few early starts — whether it’s to catch the best wildlife viewing at sunrise or to get ahead of traffic on longer travel days. Travel times may vary, as weather and road conditions can change plans along the way. The key is to stay flexible and embrace every unexpected moment — they often become the most memorable.
This is an overland adventure, meaning you’ll travel as a group in a purpose-built vehicle, visit remote communities, set up your own tent, and occasionally experience life in the bush with limited facilities. It’s all part of the experience, bringing you closer to nature and offering incredible access to Africa’s most iconic wildlife.

Camping in Serengeti National Park without barriers between you and the surrounding wildlife is truly unforgettable. For your safety, your group leader will provide a detailed briefing upon arrival — it’s important to follow their guidance at all times.
The itinerary also includes a range of optional activities. Please note that availability and prices may vary and are subject to change by local providers.
Some travellers may have joined the group earlier, and if you have extra time to explore East Africa, you might consider extending your journey with additional adventures in the region.

This trip offers a great introduction to southern Scandinavia, but it doesn’t include the Norwegian fjords. If you’d like to explore further, consider extending your adventure with longer itineraries such as Copenhagen to Northern Norway, Scandinavia & Baltic Circuit, or Complete Scandinavia. ✨
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
This trip includes a mix of 1 hotel night and 6 nights of camping (with varying levels of facilities). You’ll stay in two-person dome tents with mattresses provided.
Accommodation varies by location — from campsites to occasional hotels in towns. Some camps may offer optional room upgrades (USD 40–100 per night, subject to availability, bookable locally).
Facilities can be basic, especially at campsites, and wild camps have no amenities. You may also share rooms or tents on a twin or same-sex basis.
If using a sleep apnea machine, please ensure it’s battery-operated, as power may not be available overnight.
