Tour program
  • Hej! Welcome to Denmark. Your adventure begins with an included flight from Copenhagen to Kangerlussuaq — Greenland’s only inland town. On arrival, board a Zodiac for your transfer to the Ocean Victory. Once onboard, settle into your cabin and attend a safety and orientation briefing. Then, raise a glass as you set sail through Kangerlussuaq Fjord — the longest fjord in Greenland — marking the start of your Arctic journey.

  • Special information
We strongly recommend arriving in Copenhagen at least one day before your included flight to Greenland, allowing extra time in case of any travel delays or disruptions.

Please note that schedules for these included flights are typically released around eight months prior to departure, so you’ll receive the exact details closer to your travel date.
  • Step into the rich Paleo-Inuit heritage of Sisimiut, Greenland’s second-largest city. Around 2500 BC, the nomadic Saqqaq people migrated from Alaska and Siberia, becoming the area’s earliest inhabitants. Today, you can wander through the streets and discover well-preserved landmarks like the Blue Church (built in 1775), the historic museum quarter, and KNI — one of Greenland’s largest fish processing and supply companies serving remote communities.

Experience the unique blend of tradition and modern Arctic life as you visit the Taseralik Culture Center, explore Greenland’s trade history at the Sisimiut Museum, and sample local specialties like suaasat — a hearty national dish often made with seal meat. For those feeling active, a hike to nearby Sallinnguit (Tele Island) offers the chance to see ancient hunting and fishing grounds set against a striking Arctic backdrop.

  • At the foot of Disko Island’s basalt mountains lies Qeqertarsuaq — a picturesque town dotted with colourful seaside homes and striking black-sand beaches. Thanks to its volcanic soil, the area is rich in plant life, with more than half of Greenland’s flora found here.

This afternoon, set out on a Zodiac excursion to nearby Kuannit, where dramatic landscapes await — from hidden caves and cascading waterfalls to drifting icebergs and impressive basalt columns formed by ancient lava flows.

  • Weather permitting, board a Zodiac once more for an unforgettable excursion to one of Greenland’s most active glaciers. Known as Eqip Sermia — meaning “the glacier at the end of the fjord” — this immense ice front delivers a spectacular natural show, with chunks of ice constantly breaking away. From a safe distance on the water, hear the thunderous roar of the glacier calving and watch as new icebergs are born before your eyes.

  • Ilulissat is famously known as the ‘iceberg capital of the world’ — and today, you’ll see exactly why. Set out on a scenic walk from the harbour to the 70-km-long, UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord, which leads to Sermeq Kujalleq — the largest glacier outside Antarctica and the source of around 10% of the Northern Hemisphere’s icebergs.

Back in town, take time to explore Ilulissat’s vibrant atmosphere, from fresh seafood and local markets to charming art galleries. If you’re keen to see more, you can continue discovering the Icefjord on a hike, a boat cruise, or even a scenic flight for a truly unforgettable perspective.

Located on the edge of the UNESCO-listed Aassivisuit–Nipisat site, this area preserves archaeological remains dating back over 4,200 years, including ancient settlements and camps of Paleo-Inuit and Inuit peoples.
In Itilleq, daily life is still closely tied to nature, with locals relying on Arctic char, musk ox and reindeer. Take the opportunity to learn about traditional ways of living and enjoy the warm, genuine hospitality of this small community of fewer than 100 residents.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
Expedition Experience
The Ocean Victory is an ice-strengthened vessel, built for stability and comfort in Arctic conditions. While seas can occasionally be rough, onboard medical assistance is available, and seasickness is usually easily managed with standard medication.
Weather & What to Wear
Arctic temperatures can vary — from crisp and cold to surprisingly warm under the sun. Dressing in layers is essential. You’ll be provided with sturdy waterproof boots (on loan) and a high-quality waterproof jacket to keep. For full preparation, please refer to the Essential Trip Information packing list.
Zodiac Landings & Activity Level
Throughout the journey, you’ll frequently explore by Zodiac boat, getting up close to wildlife and remote landscapes. Conditions can be cold and wet, so proper gear is key. A moderate level of mobility is required for boarding, as well as walking on uneven terrain, snow and slopes. During rough seas, elevators may be unavailable, meaning stairs will be used to access onboard facilities.
Flexible Itinerary
In the Arctic, nature sets the schedule. While a detailed itinerary is planned, weather conditions may require changes. Flexibility is part of the adventure, and your experienced expedition team will always adapt plans to ensure the best possible experience.
Onboard Experience
If weather conditions keep you onboard, there’s plenty to enjoy — from educational lectures and a well-stocked library to a spa and gym to help you relax and recharge.

This trip offers a great introduction to southern Scandinavia, but it doesn’t include the Norwegian fjords. If you’d like to explore further, consider extending your adventure with longer itineraries such as Copenhagen to Northern Norway, Scandinavia & Baltic Circuit, or Complete Scandinavia. ✨
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
Expedition Cruise Ship (6 nights)
Step aboard the Ocean Victory — a modern expedition vessel purpose-built for the Polar Regions. As the sister ship to Ocean Albatros, it features an innovative design shaped by decades of Arctic and Antarctic exploration, combining cutting-edge technology with exceptional comfort.
Engineered for stability, the ship’s signature X-Bow design ensures a smoother ride even in challenging seas, while its high Ice Class (1A) and Polar Class 6 allow access to remote, ice-filled regions few vessels can reach. Thoughtful details — like a heated mudroom and multiple exterior access points — make it easy and safe to step straight into your next adventure.

Onboard, spacious staterooms offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, with most featuring private balconies. Multiple observation decks, indoor viewing areas and even hydraulic platforms bring you closer to the water for unforgettable perspectives and incredible photo opportunities.
Wherever you are on the ship, the Arctic is always in sight — even from the outdoor Jacuzzis, where you can relax while taking in 360° views of glaciers, icebergs and dramatic polar scenery.
