Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by a local representative and transferred to your feature stay hotel, before meeting your group for a welcome briefing at 6 pm.
If you have some free time beforehand, take the chance to explore the city — wander through the lively Mercado dos Lavradores, visit the Funchal Cathedral, ride the cable car up to Monte, unwind in the Madeira Botanical Garden or, if you're a football fan, discover the story of Cristiano Ronaldo at the CR7 Museum.
After the meeting, settle in for a relaxed dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll sample Madeira’s flavors while getting to know your tour leader and fellow travellers.

  • After breakfast and a short drive, it’s time to lace up your hiking boots for your first guided adventure — and it’s a standout! Often referred to as the “Dragon’s Tail,” the Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço is one of Madeira’s most breathtaking trails. This scenic loop follows a narrow, rugged peninsula to the island’s easternmost point, accessible only on foot. Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by dramatic cliffs, striking volcanic formations shaped over millions of years, and sweeping ocean views on both sides.
Take a well-earned break for lunch before returning to Funchal, where the afternoon is yours to explore the charm and history of this vibrant coastal town at your own pace.

  • Start your day with a scenic drive to the island’s west for your second guided hike. Follow a levada trail through lush laurel forests, where green-edged paths lead you to the stunning Risco Waterfall. Don’t forget your camera — Risco cascades over 100 meters down the mountainside, creating a truly unforgettable view. Along the way, you’ll also pass the famous 25 natural springs flowing from Paul da Serra, which give the 25 Fontes hike its name.

After the hike, enjoy a relaxing picnic surrounded by nature before continuing to the charming coastal town of Porto Moniz, located at Madeira’s northern tip. On arrival, take an orientation walk past its iconic red-roofed houses and, if conditions allow, cool off with a swim in the natural volcanic rock pools — the perfect way to ease tired muscles.

Spend time exploring the remarkably preserved ruins and the on-site museum, where you’ll find fascinating artefacts like Roman shoes, boxing gloves and personal letters.

After your visit, rejoin Hadrian's Wall at Steel Rigg to begin today’s hike. Tackle a steep climb along one of Northumberland’s most dramatic crags before pausing at Housesteads Roman Fort — one of the best-preserved forts along the Wall.
