Tour program
  • Merhaba — welcome to Turkey! Your journey begins in Antalya, where you’ll meet your leader and fellow travellers for a welcome meeting at 8 am.
Once introductions are done, set off together by bus toward Konya — a city steeped in spiritual history and known as the birthplace of Sufism, as well as the home of the iconic whirling dervishes. While you’re here, don’t miss the Mevlana Museum, once a dervish lodge and now the resting place of the renowned poet Rumi.
When evening arrives, let your leader point you toward the best local spots — especially if you’re on the hunt for an unforgettable kebab.
  • Accommodation
    Hotel (1 night)
  • Meals
There are no meals included on this day.
  • Special information
It’s important to attend the welcome meeting at the beginning of your trip — during this time, your leader will collect your travel insurance and emergency contact details. If you think you might arrive late, please let your travel agent or the hotel reception know in advance. You can also check with reception or look for a note posted in the lobby for details about the meeting’s time and location.
  • Say goodbye to Konya this morning and travel onward by bus to Cappadocia — a land of surreal rock formations, fairy chimneys, and hidden underground worlds.
Later, venture beneath the surface to explore one of the region’s ancient underground cities — vast, maze-like spaces carved thousands of years ago. Continue above ground with stops at the scenic Pigeon Valley and the dreamlike landscapes of Devrent Valley. You’ll also visit a local artisan for a traditional pottery demonstration, uncovering the craft behind Cappadocia’s famous ceramics.
In the evening, step into authentic Turkish life as a local family welcomes you into their home for a delicious, home-cooked meal. Afterwards, you might explore Göreme’s laid-back nightlife or experience a mesmerizing sema performance of the whirling dervishes.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
As this trip doesn’t include time to explore Antalya, we highly recommend arriving a few days early to experience everything this vibrant coastal city has to offer.
You’ll get a genuine glimpse into local life, as most travel is by public bus — a more sustainable option that also allows you to connect with the local community. Turkish buses are typically comfortable, with Wi-Fi, onboard entertainment, and refreshments included.

With plenty of free time built into the itinerary, you’ll enjoy flexibility and the freedom to explore at your own pace. Only a few meals are included, so you’ll often choose where and what to eat — your leader will have great recommendations. You may want to budget a little extra for optional activities.
Summer temperatures in Turkey can exceed 40°C, so it’s important to stay protected from the sun, wear light layers, and keep hydrated. Comfortable walking shoes and a daypack are essential for visiting historical sites. If you’re travelling between October and April, bring warmer layers, as temperatures can drop.

This trip forms part of a longer journey, so you may be joining travellers who have already spent time together. If you have more time to explore, consider extending your adventure with the ‘Real Turkey’ itinerary.
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
The accommodation listed in the itinerary is intended as a guide and may vary depending on availability. Occasionally, alternative arrangements may be required, but these will always be of a similar standard to ensure your comfort.
While we do our best to have rooms ready upon arrival — especially if arriving before standard check-in time — this cannot always be guaranteed. In such cases, you’ll be able to store your luggage and head out to explore, or sometimes make use of shared day rooms until your room is available.
Flights
Please note: flight arrangements

We can assist with booking flights from any airport in the United States that is convenient for you. Occasionally, alternative routing or airlines may need to be arranged due to availability, but we will always ensure your flights align with your tour dates and provide the same level of comfort and reliability. Our goal is to make your journey to Italy smooth, stress-free, and perfectly timed with your tour.
