Tour program
  • ¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to Spain — your journey begins in Sarria, nestled in Galicia in the country’s northwest. This unique region has its own language, rich traditions, and distinctive cuisine, and is home to Santiago de Compostela — the final destination of the legendary Camino de Santiago.
Over the next week, you’ll walk the last 100 km of this world-famous pilgrimage, tracing a path shaped by centuries of travelers. This evening at 6 pm, meet your local leader and fellow adventurers at a welcome briefing. Afterwards, pick up your Pilgrim’s Passport and maybe celebrate the start of your journey with your first taste of Galicia at a cozy local restaurant.
  • Accommodation

  • Included activities
    • Sarria - Pilgrim passport collection
  • Special information
It’s important to attend the welcome meeting at the beginning of your trip — during this time, your leader will collect your travel insurance and emergency contact details. If you think you might arrive late, please let your travel agent or the hotel reception know in advance. You can also check with reception or look for a note posted in the lobby for details about the meeting’s time and location.
  • Ease into the rhythm of the Camino today — a gentle first step where the journey is just as important as the destination. Keep your pilgrim passport close; you’ll be collecting stamps along the way, little inked memories of your progress.
Starting in Sarria, follow a mostly paved trail through postcard-worthy countryside — think chestnut and oak forests, quiet farms, golden wheat fields, and sleepy villages that feel untouched by time. Along the route, pause to catch your breath at spots like the church of Santiago de Barbadelo or San Fiz de Reimondez.
As you walk, you might stumble upon small farm stalls offering homemade jams, fresh bread, and local cheeses — simple pleasures that taste even better on the trail. By day’s end, arrive in the charming town of Portomarín, where your Camino story continues.

  • Today’s route unfolds along quiet gravel paths and low-traffic country roads, weaving through Galicia’s lush forests and open fields. As you walk through the rural Monterroso region, pass through charming villages like Gonzar, Ligonde, and Castromaior — and if you’re up for a small detour, the impressive Roman remains of Castro de Castromaior are well worth the visit.
Along the way, you’ll find little stalls offering fresh fruit, snacks, and cold drinks, as well as cozy spots perfect for a coffee break or a relaxed meal. Midway through the day, take on a gentle climb to the Sierra de Ligonde, followed by an easy descent toward your final stop.
Arrive in Palas de Rei, a town rich in history and dotted with Romanesque architecture. This evening, step into Galicia’s mystical side with the traditional Queimada ritual — a fiery drink made from orujo, lemon, and coffee beans, rooted in Celtic legend. As your leader prepares it for the group, watch the flames dance and listen to the ancient incantations said to keep evil spirits at bay for the rest of your journey. 🔥

  • Brace yourself for the longest stretch of your Camino journey — today you’ll travel from Palas de Rei to Arzúa, where every step feels like a story unfolding. The terrain rolls gently but persistently, with undulating asphalt paths that keep things interesting as you move through Galicia’s ever-changing scenery.
Your first milestone is Melide, one of the liveliest towns along the route. This is where the Camino turns into a feast — you and your group will sit down to enjoy the region’s signature dish, polbo a feira, tender octopus seasoned to perfection. And if you’re tempted, follow it up with melindres, Melide’s beloved bite-sized glazed donuts.
If your legs start negotiating a truce, there’s always the option to take a taxi to Arzúa. Otherwise, continue on foot, crossing the Iso River and tackling a series of short but spirited climbs before reaching your destination.
Once in Arzúa, reward yourself properly — this town is famous for its rich, creamy local cheese, and tasting it is practically a Camino rite of passage.

Take the scenic route left and spend the day immersed in peaceful woodland, passing charming villages and rustic farms — some of the most enchanting landscapes along the entire Camino.
Along the way, you’ll find plenty of inviting cafés and small restaurants, perfect for a well-earned break. As you near O Pedrouzo, your stop for the night, pass the Fountain of Santa Irene, whose waters were once believed to heal crops and cure childhood illnesses — a final touch of Camino folklore before the big finale.

Begin beneath a canopy of deep green forest, far from roads and houses — the perfect space to reflect on the journey you’ve just completed.
As you move forward, the trail opens into a long section between Lavacolla and Monte do Gozo, before the scenery gradually shifts from rural calm to the energy of the city for your final 5 km. And then, the moment arrives — the sound of Galician bagpipes fills the air as you approach the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, marking the end of your pilgrimage.
Present your stamped pilgrim passport and receive your Camino certificate — a simple piece of paper that holds a week’s worth of effort, stories, and achievement. If you arrive before noon, step inside the cathedral for the pilgrims’ mass, where names of recent pilgrims are read aloud — a powerful, shared celebration of the journey.
You may also want to explore the Museum of Pilgrimage, uncovering the deeper history behind this iconic route. And tonight, celebrate properly — gather with your group for a final dinner in town. After all, you didn’t just walk 100 km… you earned every single step.

Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
This trip includes plenty of walking and is best suited for travellers with a good level of fitness and mobility — comfortable, supportive footwear is essential.
Some days involve longer distances, so we recommend reviewing the daily walking details in advance. The longest stretch is around 29 km, though you’ll have the option to take a taxi if you’d like to shorten the route.
As you’ll visit several religious sites, please bring clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. A light scarf can be especially useful for staying comfortable in warmer weather while meeting dress requirements. Your leader will guide you on when this is needed.

Your main luggage will be transferred between accommodations, so you’ll only need to carry daily essentials such as water, sun protection, and a camera. Please limit your main bag or suitcase to 18 kg, with no additional items attached (like shoes or walking poles). Any extra luggage can be transported for a small additional fee, payable at the Welcome Meeting.
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
Accommodation: Hotel (5 nights), Pension (1 night)
The accommodation listed in the itinerary serves as a guide and may vary depending on availability. On occasion, we may need to arrange alternative stays, but these will always be of a similar standard to ensure your comfort.
While we do our best to have rooms ready upon arrival, especially if arriving before standard check-in time, this isn’t always guaranteed. In such cases, you’ll be able to store your luggage and head out to explore, or sometimes relax in shared day-use rooms until your accommodation is available.
Occasional Changes
In rare cases where our preferred accommodation is unavailable, we will arrange a suitable alternative of comparable quality.
Twin Share Basis
Rooms are arranged on a twin or multishare basis. Solo travellers will be paired with another traveller of the same gender. Please note that some accommodations may offer shared bathroom facilities, and on rare occasions, you may share with travellers from a different group.
Check-in Times
Early check-in cannot always be guaranteed. If rooms are not ready, luggage storage will be available so you can start exploring right away.
Pre/Post Trip Stays
If you’ve booked additional nights before or after the trip, you may need to change rooms, depending on availability.
Facilities
Some accommodations may not include private en suite bathrooms or air-conditioning. It’s also common for European hotels not to provide kettles or refrigerators.
Flights
Please note: flight arrangements

We can assist with booking flights from any airport in the United States that is convenient for you. Occasionally, alternative routing or airlines may need to be arranged due to availability, but we will always ensure your flights align with your tour dates and provide the same level of comfort and reliability.
