Tour program
  • Welcome to Scotland! Your journey begins in Fort William, the country’s adventure capital set at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK. Surrounded by dramatic Highland scenery and rich in history, this vibrant town is the gateway to some of Scotland’s most iconic hiking routes.
With its lively atmosphere, cozy pubs, and stunning landscapes, Fort William makes the perfect base for your trip. This afternoon, join your group at a welcome meeting at 3 pm to meet your local leader and fellow travellers. After settling in for the next five nights, ease into the adventure with a gentle warm-up hike — perhaps to the ruins of a historic castle on a legendary battlefield.

  • Special information
It’s important to attend the welcome meeting at the beginning of your trip — during this time, your leader will collect your travel insurance and emergency contact details. If you think you might arrive late, please let your travel agent or the hotel reception know in advance. You can also check with reception or look for a note posted in the lobby for details about the meeting’s time and location.
  • This morning, take a private transfer to Glencoe, where you’ll embark on a stunning hike along the West Highland Way, tackling the iconic Devil’s Staircase on the route to Kinlochleven. The Devil’s Staircase got its name from soldiers who built the military road in the 18th century under General Wade. As you ascend, you’ll quickly understand the origin of its name – the steep, zigzagging climb is a challenge, but the reward is breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Keep an eye out for red deer roaming the hills! After your hike, a short transfer will bring you back to Fort William for a well-earned evening of relaxation.

Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
This is an active hiking adventure, so we recommend reviewing all walk descriptions in advance. A good level of fitness is essential to fully enjoy the experience.
Hiking in Scotland can be demanding, not only because of elevation but also due to the terrain, which often includes narrow, uneven, and steep paths. Mountain weather is highly unpredictable — you may encounter sunshine, rain, strong winds, and even snow in a single day, especially at higher altitudes. Conditions can change quickly, so it’s important to be prepared for all types of weather.

On Day 5, you’ll take on the ascent of Ben Nevis. Although you’ll be supported by experienced guides, this is a full-day challenge, typically lasting 9 hours or more.
Visa information
Visa information is provided by Sherpa, a trusted third-party. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements and does not cover full entry visas. U.S. citizens traveling to Italy for stays under 90 days typically do not need a tourist visa. Additional service fees may apply if you choose to purchase a visa through Sherpa. Always check official sources before traveling.
Accommodation
Accommodation Overview
You’ll stay in a comfortable guesthouse for 5 nights, offering a cozy and authentic Highland experience. Please note that the listed accommodation is indicative and may occasionally change — in such cases, a similar standard will always be provided.
Flexibility & Check-in
While we aim to have rooms ready on arrival, early check-in cannot always be guaranteed. If needed, you can store your luggage and begin exploring until your room becomes available.
Room Sharing
Accommodation is based on twin or multishare rooms. Solo travellers will be paired with someone of the same gender. At times, facilities may be shared rather than ensuite, and in rare cases, you may share with travellers from another group.
Additional Nights
If you’ve booked pre- or post-trip accommodation, a room change may be required depending on availability.
Facilities
Some guesthouses may not offer private bathrooms or air conditioning, and it’s common in Europe for rooms not to include kettles or fridges.
Flights
Please note: flight arrangements

We can assist with booking flights from any airport in the United States that is convenient for you. Occasionally, alternative routing or airlines may need to be arranged due to availability, but we will always ensure your flights align with your tour dates and provide the same level of comfort and reliability. Our goal is to make your journey to Italy smooth, stress-free, and perfectly timed with your tour.
