- Medical & Evacuation: Your policy should have strong medical benefits and emergency medical evacuation benefits, which can be highly expensive in remote locations.
- Activity Coverage: It should specifically include adventure activities such as hiking (tramping), skiing, bungee jumping, glacier trekking, and scenic flights.
- Car Excess: If renting a car, you may want to consider insuring the excess (deductible) that in many cases is quite high.
There is no need to tip. As in Australia, the service staff are paid a living wage. A tip is an actual reward for service that goes well beyond what is expected.
