Tipping in Brazil is optional rather than obligatory, but it is always appreciated. Most restaurants automatically include a 10% service charge on the bill, so there is no need to tip extra; however, if you receive great service, rounding up the fare for taxi drivers or leaving some small change at cafés and bars is a thoughtful gesture.

Tap water in Brazil is not considered safe to drink. Instead of purchasing single-use plastic bottles, opt for a reusable bottle and refill it with filtered water whenever possible. It’s also wise to skip ice in your drinks and peel fruits and vegetables before consuming them.

Internet access is generally easy to find in major cities and popular destinations like Rio and São Paulo, where hotels, cafés, and public spaces offer reliable connections; however, in rural or remote regions, service can be limited, slower, or occasionally unavailable.

Mobile coverage is available across most cities and urban regions in Brazil, though signal may be weak or nonexistent in remote or rural areas. If you plan to use your phone abroad, make sure international roaming is activated with your provider before departure to avoid connectivity issues.
