This 10-day comfort-style adventure runs from Windhoek to Victoria Falls, crossing Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe with a strong focus on wildlife, wide-open landscapes, and easygoing African hospitality. You will sleep on a houseboat in the Okavango Delta Panhandle, watch Chobe come alive by road and river, meet the salt-pan world of Makgadikgadi, and finish with the roar of Victoria Falls still in your ears.

  • Settle in for a long but fascinating travel day as you cross into Botswana and make your way to Ghanzi, often called the capital of the Kalahari. Dinner is served outside as the sun drops and hippos call from the edges.

  • Travel to the Makgadikgadi Pans, the remains of a vast prehistoric inland lake and one of the largest salt-flat systems on Earth. Head out by open 4WD to spend time near a local meerkat community, then take a bush walk with Kalahari Bushmen and learn how they read and live with this dry landscape. Tonight, sit down beneath the baobab trees for a three-course barbecue dinner cooked over hot coals. Travel time is about 4 hours. Your rondavel is simple but comfortable, with a ceiling fan, tea and coffee facilities, mosquito net, and an outdoor enclosed shower and toilet. Trip moments from our travelers
Before you book you should know
Is this trip right for you?
This is an overland-style journey, which means you will cover real distance in a purpose-built vehicle and spend time in remote areas. The truck does not have air conditioning, but sliding windows bring in the breeze and make wildlife watching easier. Drive days can be long, though the shared road time is part of the fun. You will also spend two nights on a houseboat in the Okavango Delta Panhandle, where cabins are very small and basic. Botswana can be extremely hot in September and October, with temperatures around 34-38 C, and not all remote accommodation has air conditioning. Wildlife and water levels are seasonal, so the experience can shift from one departure to the next. Expect early starts for safari timing and long travel days.
Visa information
Visa details are provided through Sherpa, a third-party service. The “Add connection” feature only shows transit visa requirements, not full entry visas. Additional service fees apply if you purchase a visa via Sherpa.
Accommodation
Hotel (3 nights), Houseboat (2 nights), Lodge (3 nights), Basic Lodge (1 night). Accommodation in southern Africa can be in high demand, especially in peak season, and properties may occasionally be substituted with places of a similar standard. This can affect driving times, but included activities should remain protected. If you use a sleep apnea machine, bring a battery-operated model, as some lodges and tented-style camps rely on generators that may be switched off overnight.

Important notes

1. A single supplement may be available if you prefer your own room, subject to availability. It does not apply on Days 3 and 4 on the houseboat, where accommodation is shared.

2. A complimentary airport arrival transfer is included when you arrive on Day 1 or have pre-tour accommodation booked through EurotourClub. Flight details must be provided at least 14 days before travel.

3. Luggage space on the overland vehicle is limited. Please keep main luggage to 15-20 kg per person, plus a day pack up to 5 kg. A backpack or duffel bag is strongly recommended; hard suitcases should not be brought on tour.

4. Border crossings in this region can be unpredictable. A delay that takes one hour one day may take several hours another day, and this can affect the order of activities. Flexibility and patience are genuinely useful here.

5. The minimum age is 15. Travelers under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or by an appointed escort over 18 with the required documentation.
